I know many love this steel, but I thought I'd share my two cents on this just to see what people think, and I have to say unfortunately I'm really disappointed with this steelbook in hand. I just don't think the metallic inks work, it looks so dull and dark. The original poster has some beautiful blue shades in it that really make it come alive and they are completely lost in this finish, instead they are a really faded green colour. I think if they'd have used high colour inks and then a high gloss, like how they are utilised on the glossed areas of the Kimchi Leon steel, then it would have looked stunning. And I know many like it without but I would have preferred it with the title on the front to be honest, it needs something to fill the void (there's a pun in there somewhere..) on the cover, it just looks far too empty without it, especially as its such a sparse design anyway, they should have at least centred Scarlett's face on the cover to make up for it.

I don't mean to trash this steel, it is one of studiocanal's best efforts at a steelbook as of late and I am glad so many of you ninja's who got this really like it, I just feel its an opportunity missed maybe? I really want to like it, I love the film and I think the poster design its based on is stunning, but it just looks too dull in my opinion which is a real shame, I really hope it grows on me.

:angry:Mine arrived yesterday, with two dents!!!
But that to one side, the artwork in general is a bit bland. The pattern of stars are the same on both the front and the back, with only the addition of SJ's face on the front. The inside as well is a bit weird as in hand it is a lot harder to make out the two different images in comparison to the image on zavvi' site. Although I love StudioCanal releases, I am regretfully going to say this isn't one of their best.

Fantastic looking Steelbook
Its mega Glossy very hard to show in photos its a fingerprint magnet looks lot better in person the stars sparkle in the light when light shines on it at different angles the colours change a bit but not in daylight you wont see this happen but you can see when you use artificial lighting only a slight change depending on how you shine the light on it

I got mine today also. I heard the term 'Stunning' thrown about a lot.

IMO, it's not.

I was expecting this awesome paint job but there's nothing special at all. If I'm honest, it's the exact same as Studiocanals This Is Spinal Tap. A nice gloss finish, (with rubbish back art) but that's it I'm afraid. I was expecting the stars to sparkle (someone said they change colour-they don't)

I don't mean to sound very negative, but I'm just calling it as I see it myself.

Is it the mega Steelbook it's being made out to be? No.

Is is a bad Steelbook? No.

It's a nice Steelbook, don't get me wrong, but not worth €30 by a long shot. The inside image is so blown up and dark you can hardly make anything out (and that's holding the thing right in front of your face!) And the rear cover is just downright lazy.

That's my 2 cents on the Steelbook case, now I'm off to watch the film for the first time!!!! :muted:

Watched this last night and yep, I really liked this film. Love the style of it and it achieved what it set out to do-got under my skin.

Been thinking about it all night since..

Very doubtful the way the steelbook market is going at the moment. You would be lucky to get cost back on ebay, this was already an expensive release to start with.
Just watched an auction for this - it ended a little over cost (for a new sealed copy), considering they overcharged for postage and taking into account eBay & PayPal fees, they were just a tad under breaking even.
Having said that though, many of the copies on eBay right now are buy it now with a higher than cost price, and the majority of auctions are being started at £24.99 (or higher).

While I don't think the value will skyrocket much instantly, it seems most people are doing their best not to loose out on the value invested at the moment (on Amazon the cheapest it's on offer for is £36.16).

I do suspect however after the initial bunch of people trying to get rid of it (having not having enjoyed the film) it'll be something to hold on to (for those that did enjoy it) and become harder to obtain without paying over the odds.

Even Zavvi aren't selling it via ZavviOutlet anywhere, which tends to suggest for once it really is actually sold out rather than "sold out but we'll sell it on Amazon/eBay/Play for more to make extra profit".

Zavvi will 'find' more copies, I'm sure. I got suckered into paying over €22 for Pan's Labyrinth. It was 'sold out' for over a month or so, then reappeared on the outlet site at the higher price. Now it's still available.
