Received mine today (Canada), in white box, and almost perfect condition: very small scratches on the 2 right corners (back cover) :) My favorite SB, this year, with Mars Attack :)

I'm hoping Zavvi keeps a modest amount of replacement copies. Not only does mine have a dent (bottom front cover) but it has so many traces marks and dots that it looks like train spotting!

Awesome Steelbook but they should fire whose ever in charged of shipping, handling and quality control!:angry:

my heart goes out to all of you who received damaged copies. zavvi have so much to learn from this monumental cock up!!
for me, personally, the edge has been taken off steelbook collecting lately, mainly because of the damaged steelbooks received from zavvi, their crappy customer service and the amount of shoddy steelbooks flooding the market. things are slowly going downhill, in my opinion......

To my UTTER SURPRISE, my first copy made it with no dents or spine slashes!!! It does have a small tear in the plastic, but I can certainly live with that at this point. It also has the stretch marks on the corners, but I've come to expect that with the new glossy releases.

retailer wide releases seem a lot more favourable to me than they used to, knowing i can shop elsewhere for steelbooks instead of gambling with exclusives from zavvi. i would happily pay a little more for steelbooks from the likes of amazon, knowing any problems will be dealt with in a more professional manner (if there are any). i have never had to provide proof of damage in the form of photos to them and they have always resolved any issues swiftly.
the sun seems to shine less brightly in the steelbook community as of late.....:(

2 copies-came in cardboard envelopes-no dents,no dings,no spine slash

first time for everything...:D

it's been mentioned in other posts that high amounts of damaged steelbooks, or ones with defects, make the perfect ones 'holy grails'. such issues will, no doubt, increase the desirability of perfect copies, especially with releases which were extremely limited to begin with. its a shame, however, that these issues do create 'holy grails'. the only thing that should make something desirable is the limited print run, making it collectable from day one, not a lack of perfect copies. unfortunately, that is clearly not the case here. to those of you who received perfect copies, i'm pleased for you. for those of you who didn't, you have my sympathy.
receiving a new steelbook should fill us all with a sense of excitement and satisfaction, not disappointment and frustration......

none of my ordered copies of "V" arrived yet. and i have 7 other steelbooks shipped (including cabin in the woods), but not delivered.

i read that other ninjas here had similar problems with non-delivered steels, i wonder what's the reason for the delays (or sometimes even "lost" items on transit...).

well, still hoping for a late delivery next week, i really don't feel good when complaining to zavvi's customer service to often, but it's unfortunately necessary with every 2nd order i make at the moment.

can't wait for this steelbook to arrive!

And the verdict is ...

Got mine yesterday in that brown paper mailer. I thought FutureShop was horrible for doing that, but at least their mailer is bigger and not so snug like Zavvi's. Crazy for them to ever think that would protect a steelbook especially when sending in overseas, and in my case clear across Canada to the west coast.

However, with that said, it came in absolutely mint condition. The gloss and design ... just wow ... it pops out very nicely. Considering how many damaged steelbooks out there with the short print run, I can imagine this will one day be highly prized if not already. And the 10% discount hopefully comes in handy later on. :oohyeah:

And, yes, I open all of mine :p

Cheers!

Finally got my copy today!

I cringed when I saw that brown envelop :ohno:
With NO padding! :ohno:
By the grace of God, it wasn't damaged in transit :oohyeah:

I opened it right away and noticed the long scratch on the back. Looked like the marking from a one legged ice skater!

Damn it to hell.

If no Replacement them full refund. I don't collect damage steel.

Oh dude gutted for you! :(

I ordered 2, 1 came in a mailer that looked like someone had played football with it, the steel is ok, microscopic paint chip on one corner and 2 small dents on the back that can only really be seen in the right light, so I will make do with it as overall it looks good just not perfect. The 2nd one came in a mint mailer and looking at it, it looks mint. No idea what lurks under the packaging though, and since I promised first dibs to a member here that missed out before it was sold out I'm not opening it till they confirm yes/no on wanting it.

It really was a downer, after really looking forward to this release.

Thankfully 47 Ronin arrived today and brightened my week as it's seriously gorgeous and OCD perfect. "Finger print nightmare though" Jack Ryan/47 Ronin have kept me smiling! :D

i initially regretted cancelling my order for this, along with all of my other preorders, due to zavvis poor customer service. now i'm thinking i may have done the right thing. buying a steelbook should never be likened to a round of russian roulette!!
zavvi clearly need a huge kick in the arse for their shambolic service, not just regarding the insufficient packaging methods but also for telling customers the item is out of stock, so no replacements are available, despite them having copies available via their outlet site on amazon.
i have maleficent on preorder with zavvi, in the hope things get sorted out, however, this is the message i sent zavvi yesterday,

'can you confirm whether or not zavvi will be reviewing their poor record regarding blu ray steelbooks? zavvi are rapidly gaining a negative reputation for these items due to poor packaging, (v for vendetta in particular), over pricing and a tendency towards repackaging any old rubbish and flooding the steelbook community with below par items.
there are a lot of steelbook collectors losing faith in zavvi and i'm pretty sure the numbers will increase if things don't change.'
regards.

time will tell, folks.
