Rare for me to miss a zavvi pre order but was at work and this sold out a lot quicker than I thought
But hey I'll get a second chance hopefully with the cancellations, or better still a helpful ninja cause those guys know how to pack a steel right

Does Zavvi have a limit on number you order on short print runs?

I wonder about these bulk orders that get cancelled though. People must know that it is likely their orders will be cancelled based on all the other steelbook orders in the past. I have this picture of a person sitting behind their desk and ordering 10 copies of every new release and ending up with 0. Surely people can't be that dumb"
:D

I wonder if they send out all the orders for only 1 copy 1st ?

I sometimes order from Zavvi 1-3 copies depending on the film (couple for presents) but have been receiving these e-mail messages from Zavvi :

Zavvi's E-mail I received :

"Hello.

Thank you for placing your order with us.

We are contacting you today regarding your order for The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - Zavvi Exclusive Limited Edition Steelbook (Ultra Limited Print Run).

Please accept our apologies that on this occasion we were not able to have this with you on the release date. We understand this must be both disappointing and frustrating.

We send all pre-ordered items out as soon as we receive them into our warehouse from the manufacturers. We always endeavour to have pre-orders delivered to our customers on, if not before, the release date.

We estimate this product will be dispatched to you on the 17th March 2014, you will receive a dispatch confirmation email as soon as your item has left our warehouse. Please refer to the confirmation email for estimated delivery timescales.

Once again, we are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Kind regards,
Customer Service Team"

Sat 5pm is the best time for all parties IMO. People are busy on sundays more then saturdays. You cant have it any later or any earlier. People will still moan though

Agreed.

There is no sense in bashing zavvi or scalpers or ... for the simple fact that there are 24 hours in a day so it will always be inconvenient for people in one country or another. It won't matter what time nor day zavvi decides to do a release.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the releases for Beetlejuice and Mars Attack ended up being 4AM EST for those on the east coast of Canada / US and 1AM PST on the west coast... hardly what I would call a waking hours, but I still managed to nab a copy of each (and this).

While keeping a cap on orders to 2 per person is a good idea IMO, I bet that those who want to profit, already have more than one account on any given site.

It all comes down to this: if you really want it, you'll find a way to get it! No excuses. PERIOD.

Cheers!

Wow... I wasn't thinking it'd be sold out this quick... since it's not the "hot" title... but I guess the low quantity 2.5K probably the reason (also the "GLOSS" stated might be the part :D)... anyway... happy for all ninjas who got it and I believe there's gonna be the cancellation for sure, so for ones who didn't get it this time around should keep an eye over this thread... last but not least thank you for NM "The David" who sent us the heads up message, we all appreciated :)

This will be the V steel to have out of them all, or until another retailer releases one to top this. Keep it up Zavvi

I'm actually surprised that this sold out so quick. Beetlejuice and Mars Attacks were brand new SteelBook titles, so those didn't surprise me. V For Vendetta has been released in Steel before, so I was expecting it to last a little longer.

I hope everyone that gobbled this up just to trade gets stuck with their extra copies. :) Some people out there actually wanted to buy this steelbook to have it in their collection because they love the movie.

If Zavvi only delivers to a UK address it doesn't really matter what US time it's released.
Unless you have worked out with a UK buddy to use their address.
I'm trying to remember a time when everyone was going mad about a release time in relation to an Amazon exclusive release?!
Cannot think of one. Weird that.

Ummm... Zavvi delivers worldwide...

Considering its the 3rd release in the 2.5k print run, in the last week, buzz is increasing with each title so I'm not surprised it sold out faster that Mars Attacks and Beetlejuice at all.

...and some people order a spare of potentially sold out steels so it doubles the chances of getting a mint one, as we all know Zavvi never keep any cancellations/declined orders for damage replacements.
The trade only becomes an option if both copies are mint (for me at least).

Well as far I remember Mars Attacks i ordered last Saturday on the motorway M4 ( lucky was bad traffic , as always there) on the way to Reading. Thor 2 Kimchi I order in the middle of my interview for new job ( went to toilet) I get steels ;) and new job :) if you want something very much you should try your best before looking for excuses . Congrats to all :)

Post of the year for me:D:D you should get a extra special award for this morfeusz :scat::scat:

That is quite an unfair comment..... Lot of people here have trade threads and.I can t see what is wrong with that...

You snooze you loose. I am sure many ordered more than the second copy to resell and use the funds to buy more Steels. This is commonsense and not scalping. We know that this is a golden opportunity, so there is no room for being Mr. Nice Guy. You don't always win a lottery and money doesn't come the easy way.

I agree. I think it will happen anyway. The price will go up in the weeks leading up to the release date, then it will be released and boom the price will fall as eBay as flood with extra copies bought for 'trade'.

Why? I've ordered almost fifty titles and only had a couple that were damaged. Ordering two of everything can be very expensive and most of the time you end up stuck with the spares. I had to send back Dumbo and Lady and the Tramp as there were no takers even at cost price including postage. It's just not worth the hassle for me, I'd rather just take my chances.

That is quite an unfair comment..... Lot of people here have trade threads and.I can t see what is wrong with that...

They take copies from other people who genuinely want the Steelbook just so it can sit on their thread for months whilst they try to charge an obscene amount of money or trade it for Iron Man (or any other rare title that no-one in their right mind would agree to trade for it).

I hate it when members buy spares and then offer them to other members as favours. Even worse are those who hold group buys for titles like this. If people didn't do this in the first place, there would be enough copies to go around.
