Thanks to a helpful Ninja I'm getting the Lenticular Slip version! A nice gloss finish could have made this a runner for Steelbook of 2015 but it still looks pretty great to me.

So I joined a group buy for a:
- glossy steelbook
- full slip in english
- region free

I will be getting:
- matte steelbook
- full slip with huge chinese writing on the front
- region locked

Where are all the asian steelbook fanatics and apologists? Put a positive spin on that if you can. Meanwhile I'll say that Blufans is one of the worst steelbook "retailers" to have ever existed.

- It was orginally gloss, but Scanavo messed up the production. I guess Blufans should have cancelled it and asked Scanavo for a refund and then refunded its customers.

- The addition of Chinese characters on the slips is a surprise. But Blufans design and release steelbooks for the China market. You should take that into consideration when purchasing Blufans products.

- The movie disc was announced to be region A/C from the beginning. The opening post of this thread clearly states that and the post hasn't been updated since last August 2014. The only surprise is the the region A lock for the bonus disc. Even Blufans members have complained because China is region C.

I know all of the above, still doesn't change the fact that the final product is far from what was advertised. When paying a premium, such problems should be criticized regardless of what the reasoning behind them is. And I joined the group buy on the blu-ray forums, where it still states "region free"...

None of the gloss issues would have happened if this and the other releases had of been manufactured at Scanavo Denmark
It seams its only an issue with Scanavo China manufacturing plant
Scanavo Denmark have no problems producing gloss finish steelbooks for lots of film studios and we have seen lots of recent steelbooks been full gloss none with problems

So the question is why does Scanavo China have problems as they had lots of issues recently with making steelbooks from messing up gloss finish and giving excuses to why and they also had other issues with steelbooks not been done correctly

From what I seen been posted future releases are going to be made at Scanavo Denmark

The region coding is not an issue for me personally as I have both Region A and Region B Blu-ray players
I also new from the start that Wall-e is region locked as its always been that way worldwide

I'm still looking forward to getting my Blufans Wall-e Lenticular Steelbook even if its not what I like others expected it was going to be when first announced

I wouldn't say Scanavo Denmark have no problems producing gloss finish Steelbooks. There have been various issues in recent months (stretching on the corners comes immediately to mind) and quality control has been poor for a long time.

I agree it's disappointing when you pay expecting one thing and getting something else. But you could say the same for other companies regarding final product not being the same as what was advertised.

It was stated on the Blufans forum, and here also, the region coding of the discs. If you were given incorrect information you should take that up with whoever posted that information at the bluray forum.

I don't believe it was ever announced CA1 and CA2 were gloss finish. So nothing strange there.

Thor, yes. But again the change from gloss to matte was a result of Scanavo messing up production, and insisting the reprint is matte. Blufans wanted it gloss from the beginning.

I wouldn't be entirely surprised if the Chinese Scanavo factory was a political move. Have a Chinese facility to keep the chinese government (patents office) sweet so that they lean on chinese competition (viva, FP, MP, IP etc) on Scanavos behest.

thor should be spot gloss if it hasn't changed yet from the time it was said it would be this way..

As a point of interest and political intrigue, China does not have a patents office as such, and pays scant regard, little more than lipservice to international patents and copyright.
This becomes patently, if not painfully obvious when one realizes that 98% of all Chinese industry is state owned, and the remaining 2% state funded or sponsored, thus ALL the billions of dollars worth of Chinese knock-offs of international branded goods (which flood the markets worldwide) are produced with, and in turn given the blessing of the Chinese government.

I expect the Chinese state sponsored droids will now endeavour to get this removed, and or prove me a liar/misguided (I am neither).

I joined the same group buy and like everyone else was given the opportunity to withdraw from the group buy due to the changes in the release.

I can't wait to get mine. :)

Not gonna lie, I was a little disappointed to see the Chinese writing on the front of the lenticular version. Was hoping it would just have the 'WALL-E' title. Still think it will look beautiful. Hoping this ships out soon.
