None of these are made in the U.S. either. Denmark on a few and Mexico on a few.

I saw the mexico one stamped on the plastic and on a couple of them I saw made in denmark printed on the back of the actual steelbook.

It says 'Disc Made in Mexico' on all of them. Several of the titles have 'Made in Denmark' in the bottom right or left corner on the back directly on the steel. Of the titles I have purchased, the only ones that do not have this are the Lord of the Rings series.

Well I ordered both Batman's and both Hangovers online just now (my store seems intent on never getting these as these have been out what almost 2 weeks and nary a copy has shown up) and just found some more titles you can't order online along with Shawshank Redemption. I could not find the Two Towers at all and the Matrix is only available in stores as well.

So if the steels say Made in Denmark then it's a safe assumption that they didn't come off the new US G2 assembly line. I wonder when we'll start getting ones from the new US factory then?

Anywho, I decided not to get BB or TDK after all and I'll just get the combo UK edition coming out next month. I did get Sherlock Holmes, Sucker Punch, The Shawshank Redemption and The Last Samurai.

The fist three copies of The Last Samurai had loose discs but the fourth copy was pristine and The Shawshank Redemption was also in pristine shape. None of the Shawshank Redemption's had any imperfections at all like I've been hearing about.

I almost picked up Gran Torino and The Green Lantern since my first Green Lantern was BB's G1 edition and I wound up trading it for District 9 way back when, but I decided I'll get them later on.

Your absolutely right, I've not been up to par with my modifying lately. I need to get back to it. I still need to work on my complete set of The Fast and the Furious too.

I am afraid to pull apart my steels but really want to dismantle my From Russia With Love to try and smooth out a dent but don't want to destroy it. I'd love to add inside artwork to this line too just don't have the nerve, I think I'd want and extra Ghost Rider or a damaged steel to work on.

The covers aren't hard to get off at all to get rid of dents, search for the modifying thread around page 12 should help you out

If you want to get something that will hold its value get some of last years japan steels. A few of them are still avaible to buy off amazon.jp

Best Buy is in big financial trouble and it seems as though they are willing to bring down the entire collector market with cheap steels in order to try and save their ass.

I don't know if I 100% agree with everything you have said also I am talking from your other forum posts. Although I do agree they are very argumentative over there and say things without any discussion and to pick a fight.

While I wholehearted agree with you that if you are buying these BB WB steels for value reasons you are really misguided and better off going after the Amazon Japan ones or as someone else suggested gold, I don't know if I would just throw this release aside. These movies are a great way to shore up your blu-ray collection. I mean $10 for a blu-ray of a good movie and not a bargain bin movie is in itself not a bad price, add to that a steelbook packaging, even a poor quality control print run (which I really beleive this to be and not a cheap quality run) and I think you have an overall nice item. Now in a week from now when they jump to their normal price I could see your point.

Also this release was not really meant for seasoned collectors. Even if you beleive the advertisment about this being a fathers day gift, this release is more to introduce non-collectors who don't know what a steelbook is to the product in mass.

I ended up picking up the movies that I wanted to, some of which were double dips. And yes I agree these were not the best quality. And yes I agree the original releases with interior artwork are nicer and better. But you know what, I have the white amazon batman's and the Sherlock holmes which I have not opened and are part of my collection, but my open copies of batman and sherlock holmes are DVDs so I am not going to go out and buy the candian releases as a triple dip at higher costs. I got these for $10 a piece, I'll be able to add my own custom interior artwork and I am happy. This way I get my hobby and my movies in one.

Can you imagine what would happen if they released The Town with the same artwork as the Future Shop exlusive and sold it at $14.99?
