Im sure ill take heat on this but this i think applies to most steels and a lot of things. I think for people who dont have this or the original released steel have an easy time saying the same thing( i love the new one and it blows away the old one). These are moot points bc lets be honest this one just like iron man and zombieland etc never crush an original bc even if the artwork is similar or "better" they are not original releases and could be had for 20 bucks whereas the originals have yrs of building value and a reputation for a reason. I just wish instead of ppl always making it one vs the other each steel would start being judged more on their own individual merits. Btw i like the new zombieland play steel better than the other one but its not the original and even though im not willing to pay more for the original it cant be discount that the original has the value and longevity that makes certain collectors want that and i respect that. It will always be the original zombieland and one of the grails of steelbooksk just like ironman and watchmen to some. I wish that would stop being discounted from the steel.Sry to get off topic but this topic always comes up when a steel is rereleased and i think it gets overblown everytime. Also i love this steel. FOOTBALL IS BACK!!!!

First release or not I as a steelbook collector, first and foremost I make my decisions on the artwork. It makes sense that most 're-releases' are improvements as play.com for example often listen to the comments made about the original. Quite often artwork can also be epic fails and can still disappoint but for me I have no urge to obtain a steel because it is simply the original release. Also the ability to benefit from the coding of the discs can sometime help me in my decision also.

For instance even though I love the Zombieland original front artwork it lacked any real back art as most of the German steels do so I am happy to order the new release esp as it enhances the actual film with all the rules etc. A lot of the time it will come down to preference though and I understand that.

Each to their own.

P.S. It is inevitable that comparisons are going to be made between steels - we are only human. I cannot see the harm in it tbh.

dont disagree with what ur saying at all. I guess i just wish comparisons were more resonable instead of ppl, for example assuming a steel will become irrelevant bc of a new release or that ppl will stop collecting an original. Im sure my original didnt come off how i meant it but more as a frustration of how people react to rereleases. Thats all i was going for.

Hey JP-I think there are shades of gray to everything. 'Some people' react that way to re-releases, and others have a more 'moderate' approach, where the original may always be the 'best', but the re-release is still acceptable, because it allows new collectors to join the hobby without feeling like they need to spend an arm and a leg for the 1st release. I also think there is every grade of collector or enthusiast in between these extreme ends. Some people just buy for the cover, they couldn't care less about future value or appreciation, depreciation. I personally think as long as the person still has fun, no matter what his/her individual priorities, it's cool. 'Collections' and 'hobbies' always evoke quite a bit of passion...especially when you mix people together who do have completely different mindsets about the whole thing-it's what makes the forum and hobby interesting and fun, imo. Movies themselves are passionate, so fans are too, I think:)

You said it better than me db lol. Ill end it with that. i didnt mean to come off like a D*** i just was venting, but what u said kind of sums up what is the correct view on the issue and also sums up my belief on it also even tho that first post didnt sound like it:D.

Hey JP-there is no right and wrong answer to any of this because opinions naturally will vary. Feel free to jump in anytime with your thoughts! As long as we all remain understanding and respectful as much as possible, there is no harm done, at all:) Hope you're enjoying the site:) :ninja:

Im cool with that.Obviously love the site. probably a little to much:rolleyes:

Haha this world will forever be filled with human beings of different mindsets and opinions. As someone has already mentioned, it will always be the version in which YOU choose, to be the best! Me personally, this particular steel has always haunted me, I loved it, wanted it, couldn't get it but then got it! And now that I have it I will not even look at any other version released! Much like the Amazon Japanese releases, yet we can get them much much cheaper via some other UK site, we still want the Japan verion....Anyways, back on topic in regards to this steelbook. It is freakin awesome and one of the more sought after steels out! NOT because of its resell value but its uniqueness and kick ass design!

Thanks

They are both good looking steels. Being a comic reader I can truly appreciate the iconic watch cover of the Futureshop version. Though, I can also appreciate the Play.com version, not only is it easier to get hold of, but it also has a stunning cover visual.
