I'm really surprised we haven't gotten the traditional "great movie, but no rewatch value" comment like we usually get in every thread for a non-action movie. It's got me intrigued to see this movie. As far as the steel, I probably won't be buying it. I'll hope for a slipcover in the US and pay half of what Zavvi is asking for this.
 
It was a good ending and an excellent film but all time is a little bit much. Now Godfather 1 was the best closing scene of all time.
Angel Heart has the best ending.

(And if you don't know Angel Heart- you best rectify that mistake...;))!
Whiplash is very good. Yes, overrated. But the editing and pace are just terrific - (just enough to forgive the almost fatal mistake it makes in the 2nd act). Telling people it has an amazing ending is setting them up. Kinda unfair either way. Some people's "amazing" is another person's "wha?".
