EXACTLY WHAT I SAID ABOUT THIS CRAP PACKAGING. Funny how some people were well impressed with it. I tell you this there will be lot more damaged steels now due to this new packaging. Its not just the overseas shipping its internal as well. Its not up to the job. Maybe Zavvis new best friend can pass on my comments.

The numbers will speak for themselves, if complaints are significantly down versus the previous packaging then it's considered a success. There will always be a % of bad consumer experience no matter what!

I agree that there will always be steelbooks damaged in transit, no matter what. But is it too much to ask to use better packaging material to protect the steel much as possible?
I haven't received my copy yet, but from the pics I've been seeing here, this looks smashing! Imagine my disappointment if the posties shows up tmrw with a bent steelbook inside... And having seen Bidou's packaging on trades, I and many others on this forum can guarantee you that he knows what he's talking about when he says it ain't upto scratch.
Fingers crossed, my order arrives safe, else it'll be very disappointing..:ohno:

If you haven't already purchased this I would get onto this sooner rather than later as it has started to hit £40+ already......this is just gonna keep rising for the forseeable future I reckon EEK!

Ok I have to chip in here I'm afraid it's not down to the packaging imo but it appears a lot of these steelbook's were shipped damaged and with paint chips etc. this is not really zavvi's fault but rather that of the manufacturing process/company and down to quality control or lack off! it's like ok so we have to print 3k copy's ok but no more if some are dented or scratched ahh so what it's still part of the 3k we've done our job. they're getting lazy and this will be there downfall the way it should be is if there is a damaged SB weather dented or scratch or paint chips it should be done again in other words there should be 3k perfect copy's to leave the factory spine slashes and like should never be an issue I mean really stand by your company and your product or you may find you start to lose money instead of making it.

Edit: although zavvi should now be on the phone telling them what's what and to get there quality control sorted it would be interesting if another company decided to manufacture steelbooks then they would be forced to up there game.

How do you know they aren't in perfect condition when they leave the Scanavo factory? They only manufacture the cases, they don't put the discs in or attach the slips and J-cards. The cases have to be unpacked (probably where most of the spine slashes occur) and put through another production line by a company who may have less interest in maintaining quality control.

I totally agree but I didn't say scanavo I said "manufacturing process/company" meaning anyone in the process line from manufacturing to disc and j-card additions before it gets to zavvi or amazon for that matter but clearly someone in the chain is not doing there job properly and we the customer suffer as such with our pocket and our prized collections how many people in the u.s who have imported this and others only for it to be damaged and now find there oop. it shouldn't be too hard for zavvi or amazon etc. to improve the quality in the chain by informing these people\company's of these issues and it's simple math if this continues (and lets face it it's been getting worse) then people will not spend there money were they are always getting faulty products and it makes things harder for people to continue this hobby you see how many skyfall steels had dmg to them more and more were now looking at two or three a month that are damaged amazon, zavvi ,play all have improved there packaging to compensate but most damage is being done before they even get the stock.
sorry for the rant but that was my point that's all.

They will bulge out like that as the steel + foam only just fits (tight fit), just like plays boxes.

Just would like to add praise for this release. The red gloss on this is really striking and I'm a big fan of all the artwork (I know some don't like the front but I think it looks really classy and the de/embossing just adds to it).

Spine slash

I thought mine was perfect. Leave it to some goon with a box cutter to slash the spine thru the outer wrapper. Thanks Zavvi.

I'm still waiting for the steel that arrives with two spine slashes, one thru the wrapper and one underneath.

I will say that the back embossing is nearly unprecedented. I think there was one prior that had it.
