After I watched Christopher Nolan's The Prestige in cinema I immediately went to see it again the day after. :scat: Nolan's puzzly script combined with the great source material, good acting and exciting time period just did it for me!

I'm giving away my spare Zavvi Steelbook release of this great film. It has a small dent on the front right. It's hard to photograph but it's easily noticable IRL. The card has a tear in the blue bar. You could consider taking the risk of pushing it out since I will pay for track&trace shipping

RickB84 is the winner!

The next question could be: does it even matter whether he was dreaming? I got inspired by (ofcourse) the film but also this great lecture of Kyle Johnson

I will select the winner on February 1, 2014.

Taking into consideration how deep into the dreams they were going, I'd say it is safe to assume he was still dreaming.

The fact that he took out the top and spun it shows that on some level even he refuses to believe that what he is experiencing is real life. What I take away from him walking out and not watching the top is he no longer cares whether he is dreaming or not, he's achieved what it was he wanted all along.

Course then there is the possibility that the entire thing was nothing more than a dream within the dream of a man stuck within a dream.

I really love this movie, I saw it three times once with my dad, once with my mom and once with my sister lol. This is such a open ended question the answer could go both ways.

On the plane after he came out of limbo he looked at Saito and Saito picked up the phone, as a viewer you would only think that he is honoring his agreement, though Saito could just be calling his limo driver. When they are picking up their bags they do not talk to each other, this could mean he is still dreaming. However, I believe I remember them saying they go their separate ways and cut all contact until the next mission. When he finally reaches home he spins the top but stops looking at it because he kids called out to him and he desperately wanted to see his kids again. We see the top still spinning and eventually the screen cuts..though the top started to wobble..a bit.

There are probably other hints I missed, I haven't seen this movie in a year or so lol so this is all from memory. Having said that, I think most of us want to feel he isn't dreaming. So I'm going to say he wasn't dreaming and it was real.

Thanks for the cool give away! :)

When I first saw it at the cinema I thought, nope, he can't be dreaming! Especially as the spinning top wobbles slightly before it cuts to a black screen.

However, after numerous watches though, I believe that the whole movie is a dream, within a dream, within dream. It would sort of make sense that the whole duration of your viewing is a dream, but whether or not it's Cobb's dream or his wife's is another matter :p

Thanks for the giveaway

Yes, he's just dreaming. Actually it's all just a dream.

It really doesn't matter if everything is just dream. As long as he doesn't know that he's just dreaming. For him it's a happy ending dream.

Thx. for the giveaway!

i just watched all that video and it blew my mind.

before the video i thought he was awake and that his kids are his totem, who knows more about his own kids than him, the perfect totem

But the video points out some amazing points about them just going one level up when he and mal kill themselves, if so then Mal is right all along and jumping out the window means she just went another level up and shes still alive waiting for him to wake up. So i think perhaps hes still dreaming at the end but he managed throughout the movie to go up a level into a dream where mal is still dead because she most likely killed herself in that dream too

awesome giveaway, love the prestige and pretty much all nolan movies!

Awesome give-away! Been craving for this steelbook for a while now.

Yes, I believe it was a dream. I believe the whole thing was a dream. I say that because every time Dom saw his children, it was always the same setting. However, there are minor differences with their clothes, but my opinion is that it was always a dream.

Thanks for the giveaway.

Confession time! Not seen the film, but you have got me interested! Guess then No, but will update once watched.

No I don't believe Cobb was still dreaming. The top starts to wobble just before the film ends. This is to represent the theme of the film by sewing the seed of an idea that you can't shake.

Thanks for the giveaway. Never seen The Prestige.

But no I think it was real life at the end of Inception. Iirc he didn't have his wedding ring on, but I think just the fact that he left the totem and walked off meant that he didn't care anymore.

Thank you for the giveaway. The Prestige is an awesome film.

But Inception is pretty awesome too. I agree with shejon01 and anyone else that thinks it was real life. I don't necessarily think the wedding ring means anything considering that whether in real life or the dream world, he has moved on and would now have taken the ring off. I agree that he left the totem because he doesn't care anymore. I think the end of the movie leaves it up to the audience, and if you're a pessimist, you think he's still dreaming. But if you're an optimist like me, he has finally truly been reunited with his children.

Thanks ! It's a tough one, my opinion changes ( normally depending on my mood ) every time I watch it. On my last viewing, I have to say I thought he was still dreaming...
