Working Out Thread

I will say this....There are many sports supplements out there that are completely bogus including these protein shakes that have ridiculously high levels of protein. The protein is in there, but its not necessary at all and can even be harmful. But hey, most people don't know this and that's why the companies keep promoting this stuff.

As for weight loss...the traditional ECA stack (ephedra [usually in the form of Ma Huang], caffeine, and aspirin [usually in the form of white willow bark]) was actually very good at leading to weight loss. However, as many of us know, ephedrine was banned due to numerous cases of death or health problems. Many weight/ fat loss supplements still sell their products but obviously without the ephedrine (ephedra). Without that, their products are nowhere near as useful as they were with the ephedra, and in many cases are now complete crap.

There are some weight/fat loss supplements you can find that do work well but they are few.

I agree with what MassGains said. Calories burned must be greater than calories consumed.

Just started p90x after having it for years lol Day 1 sucks! lol

good luck. I worked a 50hr week and couldn't find time to do it. After that it was hard to find the will power to continue. Though it was working and made me feel so much better.

I started again this week, the last month has been good since I got to eat stuff I wanted at a moderate rations. This week I just cut everything cold turkey :D I have will power so yeah it's back to healthy eating for the next three months.

Also, since I was going to start I went out and got me a bench and set of weights I'll take a picture later.

I'll post some pics of my new setup in a day or to. Just got all the weights for it today. Now I can finally get down to some real business.

lol that stuff was expensive! just the weight set up to 140 lbs was 140, plus 145 for the bench. I was broke by the time I walked out :D

I got to go get a few 45 lbs plates then I'll ok for a bit. A few more different weight dumbbells as well.

That's a nice variety of stuff you got there. that should keep you busy for a while. Weights are expensive! I just got 300lbs in weights by delivery today. They are the olympic weights with the rubber grip. It cost me a little over $500 for just the weights. I'm glad I have free shipping from Amazon or that would've been insane.

ok guys. i am fat and need to start taking care of myself better. some days i just feel miserable when you wake up. now that i have a house and living without roommates i have the time and room to do this stuff. I really want to do P90x. I know its brutal but i need to do this. I dont wanna spend the money for a gym when i may not go all the time. If i were to try p90x, what do i need to get equipment wise?

Well, part of the upper body workout uses a pull up bar. You'll also need some dumbbell weights or resistance bands. The weights are best but can be a little expensive. That's really all you'll need though.

I've got a "newish" pull up bar (bought it last sept. and have used only about 4-5 times) and resistance bands I can sell you real cheap if interested. Not really trying to sell you stuff but if interested let me know. If you're not in a complete hurry I can also copy my p90x dvd's and send them to you for shipping cost only.

Yeah thunda i would be interested in the dvds i think. I know that its not the easiest work out to do. I hope i can though. the only thing im worried about is my shoulder. i have a really bad shoulder where i think some of the exercise may cause an issue. but on the other hand i am hoping it may also work as rehab for it.

Now what about the nutrition guide? is it worth purchasing the whole p90x or no? i just wanna do this and do it right.

Well Im poor so Im just starting p90x with a pair of 10 lb dumbells lol Im prolly buy these today though.
A pull up bar for myself

A mat, dumbells or restistance bands, a chair, pullup bar are the recommended stuff. Im only on day 4 so I havent gotten the pullup bar. I just started with an old set of 10 pound dumbbells I had around.
