The problem is that zavvi have watched people pay over the odds for Disney blufans releases and now they want a piece of the pie.

General Disney note-Disney has a history of being lambasted for its launch pricing for regular Combo packs, at least in the US-it's not atypical for them to start out at $34.99 or higher. Yes, often there are sometimes coupons, but Disney does not compete on price and never has, largely because they have countless franchises which they know garner a huge followings so it is not really necessary for them to have to compete on price. And successful exclusives are rarely ever reduced in pricing. As a side note, however, the Disney Steelbooks that were released in the US years ago (A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc, etc) also had a starting price of $34.99 which is roughly 22 GBP's (with no 3D disc). While they often have sales in some territories, the base pricing for new releases is not as cheap as other studios'.

We're happy to be able to share a code with you tomorrow, that will reduce the price for those that do wish to purchase this exclusive but if that's still not enough you can always say 'adios' and not buy it at all:scat:

But in the UK Disney has a history of short changing us with releases, at least the US editions are combo packs, thats a rarity here, also slipcovers are few and far between, so we get high prices but are shafted on content and the extra touches like slips, which makes the high prices ever more of an annoyance. Also with these steelbooks there is little to no chance of them ever making it into a sale so its pay up or miss out....

No way i'm paying these prices any more it's too much in-fact i'm done with most zavvi steels altogether they're getting to greedy i'll wait for better options even at £20 it's to much for a 5k print run and to top it off the steelbook doesn't look that good yet another cash cow from the destroyers of steelbooks minimum effort and quality for huge money.

look at Despicable Me 2 £22.99
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 3D - Extended Edition £26.95

Home of steelbooks :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:
home of rip-off and destroyed steelbooks.

Revolver, that is your prerogative, and many people have felt the same. Some are getting their replacements, and all feedback from our community continues to be shared with the retailer. It is up to them to improve a variety of processes. However, as part of our community guidelines personal attacks and insults towards other members are not permitted.

Folks, lets please not drag this into an ongoing argument. Revolver your post was edited-attacks on others are uncalled for. Anger towards a retailers' practices are to be expected when things go wrong. As consumers there is nothing more frustrating than paying money and then receiving damaged items or delayed service and other things that cause headaches. The 'I am not paying this for that' discussion happens every single day here. Everyone has to choose for themselves what things are 'worth' to them.

I find the prices very reasonable for these steels. When you consider what you get.and how much goes into getting it onto the shelf. This is just one example of what's to come and it looks brilliant. Zavvi and ES are doing a great job for the uk steelbook collector and ill be in for some copies of this as soon as it goes up.

Snoo-come on man, you know how the cookie crumbles-we try to create a fun atmosphere, no one wants to read about 2 people chastising each other over collector habits. One post leads to another, leads to more cussing and fighting...just not what we're about at HDN:)

Why not just remove the offending post, which is clearly there just to bait people into an argument, rather than deleting the subsequent posts defending collectors/members of this forum?

Snoo-because when you reply you again quote the 'offending post', and the person that started the whole drama jumps back in and so on....his post was edited. And if you hadn't quoted him, someone was bound to derail the entire thread with 'what, I am stupid', yadda yadda. We see it happen all the time. Lets move on, please. We hope members who see that choose not to be part of it, or add fire. Use the 'report' button if you see a trollish or rude post. Thanks.
