The film was released in Germany with the title "X-Men Zukunft ist Vergangenheit". The standard Blu-ray and DVD releases are already up for pre-order on amazon.de and bear the German title.

Also Fox's German steelbook releases tend to be identical to their UK counterparts, other than the use of German titles where the film was released with the title translated into German. The perfect example being "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" where the German steelbook was identical to the UK one but bore the title "Planet der Affen Prevolution".

I think anyone waiting on the German steelbook release, hoping for something different, may be disappointed.

Remember Woverine? uk and germany had some different...

Which is why I used the term tend to be identical, as opposed to are identical. I hope you're right about Fox Germany's steelbook release having its own unique artwork. I'm all for additional choices. I am, however, concerned that it may follow the example of the standard Blu-ray and DVD releases, the artwork of which bear the title in German, as opposed to English. And this is why I finished off my post that those waiting on the German release may be disappointed, as opposed to will be disappointed. I was never talking in absolutes since that won't be possible until we actually see the final artwork.

The more I compare the artwork of the French steelbook with that of the UK one, the more I'm inclined to go with the French release. Although they both derive from the same basic design, the French one is more refined in its execution and, with the addition of the Trask Industries logo, actually looks as though it is part of a schematic of a Sentinel.

The UK artwork looks sloppy in comparison, with the Sentinel's head merely slapped onto the cover art. And do we really need Hugh Jackman's name emblazoned across it?

Definite feeling of deja vu here, since it was only a few years ago that we had a similar situation with the previous X-Men movie, "X-Men: First Class". There, we again had the UK and French releases bearing similar artwork, the execution of which was botched on the UK one. I chose the French steelbook for that title and I am going to do the same for this one. This time, there's the added bonus of the title being in English, not that I was bothered about the last one being in French.

Incidentally, on the subject of Trask Industries, earlier today whilst browsing the net, I came across a spoof website put up by Fox, trask-industries.com. Anyone not already aware of this site should check it out. It's fascinating.

I won't quote your whole post but you make great points.

And I'd like to point out the mockup in the OP has some sort of shine effect in the top left corner and bottom right corner : could that be indicating a gloss finish? Though it's not like it's required; the French X-Men First Class steel has a lovely smooth finish that works just fine too — that's a very good steelbook indeed, the same is true for the French Wolverine (and its lenticular magnet) which is to me one of the very best steelbooks of 2013, period.

So Fox France has been nailing their X-Men steelbooks and I'm sure we won't be disappointed by this one either.

Couldn't agree more. I've never understood the Anglocentric mentality of many members here who think that every steelbook release worldwide should be tailored for the English speaking market.

Another Fox France steelbook release that was far superior to its UK counterpart was "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", which I again purchased in preference to the UK one. I didn't have a problem with the title being in French, "La Planete des Singes: Les Origines", which I felt made more sense in relation to the original movie than the UK title did. So I have great hopes that the forthcoming French release of the sequel will also prove superior to the lacklustre UK one.

i'm french and I'm so glad they didn't try to change the title!
I was actually afraid how they would translate "Days of Future Past", I'm telling you, in France they always feel the need to change english titles (sometimes to replace them with others in...english...) So this is perfect!!

I wish they had put the sentinel of the future on the front though, I really hope the future version is on the back of the steelbook!
They were amazing in 3d.

This movie was fantastic!

Fox France have always released G2 Blu-ray Steelbooks. It's Warner France that was responsible for the G1 releases. However, even they have now changed to G2.

It's actually interesting because indeed fox has always released G2 but for dawn of the planet of the apes they are stating metal pack, so it's not clear if it'll be a steelbook or not. But for this one I would totally say it'll be steelbook

When ordering a french bluray of an english language film do the non-english spoken parts get embedded with english subtitles?
Perhaps you guys who have "First Class" could tell me if the German speaking parts are hardcoded english on your blurays?

Thanks, I ask because I've pre-ordered this and Godzilla from Amazon.fr and am now worried lol.
