Hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but you're obviously not buying enough.

You really need to buy lots from Zavvi and Amazon, especially the latter now they've taken to sending Steelbooks out in A1 mailers . . . .

Sarcastic - moi? :naughty::ohno:
;)

Ha! To be fair I think I've just been really lucky with other retailers. Whereas HMV I've now had 3 with issues: Man Of Steel (kept as it wasn't bad), Pacific Rim (returned) and now X-Men DoFP (kept). The problem areas always seemed to be concealed by the J card, too. It's a conspiracy I tells ya!!

I've been reading over the issues that people have had with their copies.
Mine looked mint after I got it out of the packaging.

And then I did the "light catch" trick on the front. Faint, hairline scratches in the top right, just like StifflersDad described. :(

They can't be seen without doing the "light catch" trick though, so I don't think I'll bother taking it back. I just hate the gloss finish, as it's now become a finger print magnet. :(

I just hope that my "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes" steelbook has no faults when I go and pick it up on November 24th...

I had to open 6 until I found a mint one in staines. Mixture of dents scratched and paint chips. Lady behind the counter said I couldn't keep opening them. I responded with I will until I find a non faulty one. Luckily the next one was fine.

I was about to go all Caesar on her ass and puff out my chest screaming

Ninjas! Together. STRONG!

Definitely a quality issue with this release.

Mine has no dents/scratches, but the inside panel hasn't been attached to the front part of the steelbook so moves around.

Picked mine up today from HMV Kingston - they were fine with me opening it before paying and it seemed fine; no visible dents or chips so I took it.
Getting home, did the light trick and thee are very very faint corner marks but barely there, but as they're near the corner, my guess is that they're stretch marks if some kind?
BUT then I opened it; where the steel goes in to be opened, the front inside edge was chipped all the way along. Can barely be seen when closed but feels a little rough when I run my finger along. Also the steel is not a snug mould and fit on the lower inside corner of the left/front panel where it meets the spine and the plastic inner.
These are very minor ocd points but fits with a poor quality overall manufacture on this.
HAVING SAID ALL THAT - it's a lovely steel and feels very nice in hand, very... satisfying.

I would like to take this English-text spine and inner artwork and add my glossed Germany embossed Lenticular front and back!

Wouldn't be possible on the inside art unless you just printed that pic again. Spine yes. Simply switch the plates.
