@tenderheartbear But did you not get the HMV steelbook for this movie if you wanted a steelbook so badly? I know it's not the "rogue cut", but you could just swap out the disc from a cheaper amaray version if you really wanted. I'm sure a few people will do that. I can't understand why anyone would feel that they HAD to have this version because they like the movie when there's already a much better steelbook available for the same movie - unless you absolutely must have the steelbook refer to the fact that it's a different cut??
I hear what you're saying about the dilemma about not having a steelbook for a movie you really like, I had the same thing when the Guardians of the Galaxy cassette steel first came out (though I didn't cave in and now, luckily, I'm getting the version I always wanted). You see this is where I differ from you, I'd rather not buy the steel if the art is very poor (or has some other major problem or design choice). Otherwise it's like you're saying "I know it's a crap steelbook, but keep 'em coming cos I'll still buy them" - which sets a dangerous precedent that could damage the overall quality of steelbooks in the long term. You have to vote with your wallet sometimes.
This is why I keep criticising Zavvi for not doing enough to ensure the studios supply them with steelbooks of a certain standard - and you keep on defending them. It's like you want them to keep churning out garbage
