Jack Huston cast as lead in THE CROW remake

THE CROW remake has found its Eric Draven! BOARDWALK EMPIRE’s Jack Huston has officially been cast in the role of the rock star turned undead avenger.Huston is currently shooting the BEN HUR remake, where he plays the titular hero. Awhile back, DRACULA UNTOLD‘s Luke Evans was attached to the role, but negotiations seemed to have fallen through and the in-demand actor bowed out to pursue other projects. Huston probably isn’t too disappointed by this turn of events; he scored a role in a film (and comic book) that has a pretty loyal cult following. It certainly helps that Huston looks the part of the goth rocker, and his stint as the brooding Richard Harrow on HBO’s BOARDWALK EMPIRE showed that he can connect with a character with a dark story. It’s going to be tough to follow in the footsteps of the late, great Brandon Lee, but we’ve got a feeling Huston is up to the task.

A few months ago, we reported that the reboot seems to be plagued by problems and pitfalls, but the casting of Huston seems to be a step in the right direction. THE CROW remake will be directed by up-and-coming horror director Corin Hardy with a script from the writers of WARRIOR and LAWLESS. According to James O’Barr, the creator of the original graphic novel that THE CROW is based on, the remake will be a closer adaptation of the source material, something that is sure to be reassuring for fans of the graphic novel. Production on THE CROW will begin soon.
