I know you were teasing me :)
But I was just sad that I know they won't do a 'barebone' version. I'll have to buy a premium package to own that steelbook (n)

isn't it better ? and most of the time same price or little higher as a barebone steel ? but just a barebone steel is kinda boring, I am sure Kimchi doing this with Blu will have a couple of nice Packages that will make you think that it was the right way of doing things  ...anyways this is not a release for me, I am gonna pass on this and happy to save some money

Do we not credit retailers for their exclusive releases any more?

I don't know why anyone ever credits Kimchi for their releases when all the design and work is done by companies like The Blu Collection, D'ailly, Weet, Green Nare, Art Info, etc. I've always been completely baffled that everyone talks about the products these companies design and create as if Kimchi had some creative hand in it, whether they're praising or damning them. All Kimchi does is sell them.

You could say that about any retailer.

Do you think Zavvi have a guy in the back room designing steelbooks for them?

No, but I was under the impression that FA, PA, Nova, Blufans, etc. all have their own design teams. I know for a fact that PA does. So it makes sense to credit those companies when talking about their releases.

Kimchi is just a store that releases collections by multiple companies that are separate from them.

I'm not sure to be honest. I don't know how much input Nova, Kimchi etc have into the design process. A bit I'm sure.

But I guess nothing at all would happen without the retailer

Heck, you may be right. I know that PA do most of the work themselves (although they sometimes team up with other groups when designing some of their products), and I'm pretty sure that Nova started out as strictly a design/creative team that evolved into a bigger business but still do their own design. But now you have me doubting whether that's the case with FA and Blufans. With Kimchi, each of those separate companies that sell through Kimchi's store have their own separate and recognizable identity, with their own company logo on the spine of their products, and there's no "Kimchi" logo on anything (other than shrink wrap). But maybe FA, Blufans, and some others use less official but still separate teams.

Maybe someone in the know on here could shine some light on how the process works?
