Completely agree with your rating! Critics tore this apart, but I really enjoyed it and it was nice to see a younger cast flesh out what could have become the next phase
Glad someone is finally in agreement! I don't understand all the hate it receives... I mean Apocalypse himself could've been done better, but I found the film really entertaining overall and it left me wanting more! Completely agree with you about the younger cast too... they really make the film their own even when up against some of the bigger/older actors like Fassbender and McAvoy.

Different than the original anime (borrows elements from the TV show as well as newly created stuff), but I still enjoyed the hell out of this one. The original anime is in my top ten favorite movies of all time so I was skeptical heading in to this & its not without its flaws but I like what they did with it.

Interesting concepts- none of them fully realized.
Neat story- wish it had focus.
Characters- I know some of them are synthetic but that can't mean that every one is a robot.

Overall:
Great visuals, but the film fails in the most basic forms of narrative story-telling.

With my schedule I typically don't see movies until they're released on blu ray. In fact, I havent been to a movie theater since Attack of the Clones, other than to see JAWS on the big screen this past summer.

With that said, I had a buddy walk up and hand me a blu ray asking if I'd seen it. I looked down and it was John Wick, which I had still yet to watch. Now that I finally have seen it......

HOLY SNOOKERS!!!!!!! Talk about a movie that kicks some serious butt!!! What a great time it was watching this. Now I can be even more bummed I didn't get this on Steel. DAMN!!!!!

@bigrob Thought I'd let you know that I finally got around to watching this and really enjoyed it, so thanks for the recommendation! To be honest, it wasn't really what I expected, but I suppose that's a good thing as I ended up liking it anyway. Loved how gory it was, and the practical effects were pretty cool too, even by today's standards. That Chatterer was awesome as well... looked like something straight out of Resident Evil game! Definitely looking forward to checking out the other two films now. :D

The franchise goes out with not a bang, but a whimper. Even the director in the documentary sort of apologies it for being a stinker.

This one I thought was better than it had any right to be. I dug what they did with it, yeah the ending did feel a bit rushed but I enjoyed it.
Hope it gets a sequel after that little mid credits tease.

When I was watching Hellraiser a few weeks back, I friended Nicholas Burman Vince who played the Chatterer on FB. He messaged me saying thanks and told me about his newsletter sign up for latest works and convention appearances. Ended up chatting with him for about 30 mins during Hellraiser about the film itself. That was a pretty awesome experience lol. Glad you enjoyed it though!

HELLBOUND is a direct sequel. (Picks up right where it left off).
Highly recommend.

No way, that's awesome! Any word of a solo Chatterer film? :p

There may be a few small things to quibble about...But why quibble?! This movie blows the first out of the water! Incredible film.
These are not gunfights, these are tactical ballets. (The technical side is spot on. Weapons specialists are gonna go nuts on how they get the details right). The story and script are tight, and that ending is a modern classic.
Without question, one of the best movies of the year.

Go for it! Find out where Frank is!!! Beware the doctor!
I love that Leviathan (both an entity and a place) is depicted as an MC Esher-esque place.

It may be sacrilege- but I like HELLBOUND more than HELLRAISER!!
(I even own one of the rare Leviathan-configuration boxes).

Just saw this movie over the weekend, I was expecting to stop it as it looked kinda corny, but surprisingly it was a very cute fun movie. It's very light but
those creatures are so freakin' adorable
... worth watching for the Kid in you

Ohh cool! Was hoping we'd actually get to see where they hang out. One of my favourite scenes in The Labyrinth is where they're on the MC Escher inspired stairs, purely for that reason. Hellbound is already sounding like it'll be my favourite too. :D

Was literally thinking to myself whilst watching the film last night that someone should make and sell the puzzle box... should've known it'd probably already been done! I actually remember there being a DVD edition that came in a box designed to look like it...
