the G is what is killing your speeds... It's 54 Mbps divide that by 8.. and its like 6.75 MBps max, minus over head about 5MBps over G is common.

I have N on my computer. But other computers have only G. If I get an N router it's BC with G computers right?

Cool. I may need to get an N router. I just need to make sure it's BC with G computers.

I was going to do a hardwire test, but my line is connected to the PS3 and I didn't want to have to dig the cables out..

No Problem, just go with the Netgear N-300 at least, if you do buy a router... Easiest one to setup and one of the best quality wise, at least in my experience. Not a fan of linksys.

If your gonna get an N router, and your gonna have some devices still uses the G band, get a dual band N router. If you get the single band one, and it detects an N band device and a G band device both wanting to use the wifi, it'll default to plain G.
