Watch the haunting trailer for Clint Eastwood’s AMERICAN SNIPER

Clint Eastwood’s newest film AMERICAN SNIPER tells the story of Navy S.E.A.L. Chris Kyle, considered by many as one of the most dangerous snipers in military history. Based on Kyle’s autobiography of the same name, the movie stars Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller.

The newly released trailer is harrowing, showing the split-second, life-changing decisions that soldiers face on a daily basis while out in the field. Cooper was the first choice to play Chris Kyle, an understandable decision considering the SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK actor is a producer on the film as well. This may be Cooper’s most dramatic performance yet, and from the trailer it certainly looks like it could be another feather in Sienna Miller’s cap of comeback roles (Miller recently received acclaim for her work in the biopic FOXCATCHER).

Clint Eastwood, on the other hand, was the third choice to direct AMERICAN SNIPER, after David O. Russell and Steven Spielberg dropped out of the running. While Russell and Spielberg have a great deal of experience directing war movies (with THREE KINGS and SAVING PRIVATE RYAN under their belts), Eastwood is a seasoned filmmaker in this genre as well, having helmed both FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS and LETTERS TO IWO JIMA.
