Finally got around to watching it. Loved it.

Yah it was a cool film and without spoiling it so please don't read if you haven't seen
I was so shocked about the ending I though it was really a movie about abduction but he was right never saw it coming and the world above ground was shocking at the end.. Love J.J Abrams

All do respect, @Actarus - that was exactly what I expected at the end. They gave the movie away once they attached the Cloverfield name.
I would have rather had the last 10 minutes and an extra 80 minutes after.
The end makes the first 80 minutes pointless.
If I do a movie about a bank robbery – and in the last five minutes I reveal that we were on Mars.… What the hell were we doing spending time in the bank for 90 minutes dealing with a story about robbery?

I knew nothing going into this movie, the Cloverfield name never gave anything away from me. No everyone has so much movie knowledge.

But the way I see it, this is great for the first movie and the last 10 minutes leave way for a sequel, this is the way I saw it.

I guess your lucky, then. I mean, Cloverfield was a giant hit movie. So I think for most people, that name meant a lot (all the sites going nuts on the meanings and the viral games). The name, at very least, tips off what kind of movie it would be. But, if that was a non issue for you, you went in with a different set of eyes. That's cool...
I think it is stand alone movie, though. I doubt they would consider a sequel.

Same, it was 100% defo more standalone. But I also knew what type film this was going to be and had an idea about the end, but then it still managed to surprise me in a way. As you know I went a little bonkers in the film thread lol
But it didn't dissapoint that it wasn't directly related

I hope they do a sequel but I do have a feeling the God particle will be the next in this "twilight anthology"

just right before watching I had heard of this possibly be a sequel and cloverfield the first, but I glanced quickly(as I never watch previews) so still I had no idea of what it was. I think due to the fact that I love going into a movie with no expectations(always feel previews ruined the movie for me in theatres I always blocked my ears and look down during previews lollll even if I looked weird) and I find I enjoy much better movies this way...they do have a talent to ruin the movie in 2 minutes lol

what I though was brilliant is steven Spielberg's for ''War Of The Worlds'' they had done a special preview only made for theatres and not giving anything away from the movie... it was just a shot of the whole town far away and don't remember then rest but you left wanting more and when watching the movie the preview had nothing to do with the movie ie: meaning nothing was shown in the preview that would end up during watching the movie...that is smart promo !!! no spoiling :)

Yeah. That is a real problem in the information age: Trying to see a movie knowing nothing going in, and without expectations. It's hard because A) trailers and information are everywhere (and it is very hard as a film buff to not want to read about everything) and B) Trailers are now like 3 minute versions of the movie from front to back giving away almost everything. This should be the new Preview card:

Completely agree that trailers ruin a lot especially nowadays and also these stupid teasers for the teasers! (But I still watch them!!! :banghead:)
with this and many would agree that they made the trailers very well and didn't give much away except the tone of the film Plus as you know JJ the master of secrecy (a bit like what he did with Star Wars- perfect trailers not giving anything away)

The original teaser for this was awesome and came out of nowhere, has a great song choice too (I think I'm alone now)

Just watched it and enjoyed it a lot. I guess it's a good thing I don't watch trailers anymore and that I wasn't into movies that much until not a long time ago so I didn't even know there was another movie called Cloverfield, etc. Went totally blind into the movie and was way better! :woot:
