The Kubrick steels that are being sold by Zavvi look very similar in style to the 2001: a Space Odyseey steelbook. Same font, black steel with image in the centre.
I think Warner is pretty strict on steelbook art. I have noticed the same with other Warner Kubrick steelbooks in other countries.
If 2001: a Space Odyssey is to become available on Zavvi, it will likely be very similar, if not the exact same as the Canada and Japan release.

Amazon japan have recently re-released 2001 with a new cover using the classic poster. A variant on this could make a potentially superb steelbook. I certainly think the current design is boring to be honest. But if as has been said Warner are strict on the designs maybe the one forthcoming is all we're ever going to get.

This artwork exists outside of the steels already. Like if they do Eyes Wide Shut, I 100% promise you it'll be this (minus all the credits at the top and bottom, leaving just his name and the title):

How annoying! It still looks really nice though, would've picked it up for the price you paid no doubt
