My copies arrived today, one of them is scratched but you can only see all 6 scratches if you tilt it at a certain angle to the sun:(

On the plus side I just got a refund from a ebay seller where 6 weeks ago I pre ordered one of him for £40, I didn't want to miss out. So some bad news and some good news:D

I think it's been blown slightly out of proportion by both camps, really.

As always though, opinion on artwork can only ever be subjective, and if you don't like the borders then that's a perfectly valid opinion to have. If people label you as a Zavvi hater because of it, then I think that just makes their own argument look entirely graceless. ;)

It helps if you read all of the posts involved and not just the ones you agree with. I'm not calling anyone a hater for simply having a negative opinion of an aspect of one of Zavvi's Steelbooks, I was referring to a few other posts that member had made.

My point was that a lot of members are raising all of these complaints about Zavvi as if they were the only company they could make those points about. I'll list the points i'm referring to:

1) Price - Not the first retailer to charge high prices, all of the Amazons price new releases pretty high. As for catalogue releases, well we were spoiled when they were £9.99/£10.99 on release, no other retailer has come close to producing Steelbooks of similar quality for that price.

2) Print run - Lots of other retailers have produced Steelbooks with print runs bigger than 4k. The majority of releases have bigger print runs, it was really only Play.com who set that standard. As for whether Zavvi are lying about print runs, well I don't think they are. People are constantly creating and cancelling orders so it is tough to keep track of this manually.

3) Number of releases - Zavvi haven't released any more than Play.com did last year and the majority are titles collectors have asked for.

4) Borders - I don't recall many negative comments regarding this until this thread. It's only a feature of nearly every embossed Steelbook ever released and Zavvi can't be blamed for using this feature as the majority of collectors like it.

5) Customer service - Fair enough, you've got me on that one. It's perfectly reasonable to make a negative comment about this as it directly impacts collectors. It's not based on speculation but on experience and therefore I don't have a problem with this one.

This post will probably get deleted for being off topic, but anyone who reads it will see why I have made certain points and that I am not just calling people haters for having an opinion.

So disappointed, both my copies have long black scratches on the Genie's left arm. Has anyone else had this problem? :(

I should be getting my copy sometime this week. Only ordered one and could possibly regret it if it ends having the same issues some members here are having.

Sometimes I agree with you, snooloui, other times not, but you can occasionally come across as abrasive. I actually don't appreciate people second guessing whether I've read posts or not, which in this case I find condescending. My response about people using the term 'Zavvi haters' was a general one, and not aimed at you, and I will reiterate that I find such language and name calling puerile. It's silly pigeon-holing that only serves to divide the community into two hostile groups, and shouldn't have a place here.

This is in spite of the fact that some users have made exaggerated or ridiculous accusations against Zavvi, or wrongly laid another's error at Zavvi's door, which I agree is also rather immature.

Whilst I agree with you for the most part of your post number 3 doesn't seem right.

Between Feb 2012 and Feb 2013 Play.com released 61 Exclusive steels which equates to about 5 a month.

Since March 2013 Zavvi have announced 51 Exclusives. If these are released this year it also makes 5 a month. Which would be the same if Zavvi were only going to release another 10 more steels until March 2013, which is unlikely.

Also the amount coming in Sept and October is mind-boggling.

Someone needs to check with their contacts at Zavvi, as these orders were again re-processed this morning, NOT JULY 3RD!.

Not that im complaining, but just goes to show the lack of communication with this company.

I seem to have had some bad luck with mine. I bought three and they all seem to have scratch marks and chips on the backs. One of the fronts also has a hairline scratch right through Aladdin himself. Anyone else had damaged Aladdins?

It's funny that you talk about pigeon-holing when it was yourself who said that those who referred to members as Zavvi haters were entirely graceless. The reason I used the choice of words I did was because no one had referred to the member you quoted as a Zavvi hater and certainly not for having a single opinion on one particular release. I also don't see how that is name calling, simply an observation that some members have taken a particular dislike to Zavvi for no apparent reason.

It's quite clear that it is Zavvi who divide opinion on this forum.

Mine came today. Love it. If all Disney steels are like this I won't complain about the price. Now, where's Mulan?

I'm waiting for Beaut and the Beast. The colours on that would look amazing. I would hope they're as vivid and vibrant as this steel.

OMG peoples. For real? What the hell is going on with all this border talk? It is mind bogglingly phenomenal how much space this topic has swallowed up. Click play on MrFurious's video and you honestly tell me that this Zavvi Aladdin is not one of the best looking steelbooks ever produced.

Personally, I would WAY rather have a simple border and nicely embossed cover. Also, those that believe the artwork should not extend into the border are nitpicking at something so trivial I just can't even believe it. Would you really rather it be a blank colored border and shrink the image to the center. Seriously?

What about the white Star Trek? huh? Forget about artwork extending into the border. That artwork wraps around the whole dam steelbook. And everyone is like oooooo... ahhhhh. Best steel ever.:drool::drool:.

Dear Zavvi,

Thank you for distributing one of the nicest Disney steelbooks ever, with gorgeous front cover artwork, perfectly clean and appropriate back cover artwork, very nice inside artwork, high quality glossy finish, with a tastefully embossed title. Please do not be discouraged by these piddly complaints from finnicky collectors that can't handle a picture extending onto a border that is raised by 1/27th of an inch.

I posted a while back about this to warn peeps but this thread moves so fast! I was charged on Friday,.. however I had the funds put on the card and did "retry card" last week so there was no reason for them to wait until the 3rd for me if I already said it was in there last week. It's probably a July 3rd date for retrying if you haven't already pushed it through.

I dropped and accidentally dented the back of it! NOOO!! See 1 minute and 24 secs into my video to see the extent of the damaged:
