Got mine. Few paint chips on the back but not on anywhere important so a sharpie sorted them. Keep noticing on the corners of the embossed frame there are sort of diagonal stress marks, don't know if anyone else is noticing that now but I've seen it on a few of my steels with the border.

I've got those tiny paint chips as well, and the diagonal stress marks. I've never seen those marks before on other steelbooks. Perhaps I haven't been looking close enough

I have found that the quality of these 20th Century Fox catalogue release steels haven't always been the best. The Poseidon Adventure had some funny marks at the back, The Omen had a scratch on the back (the replacement was OK), Black Swan had a scratch on the back (so did the replacement) and the same for I, Robot. There's probably a couple of other ones with the same problem that I've forgot to mention

Most of the others have had a small bit of paint missing in the corners, not immediately noticeable. Unless they're really bad, then I don't bother sending them back, as most of them would be returns, and with no guarantee that the replacement copy is any better (in terms of not having the minor damage)

QC at Scanavo seems to have got a bit worse. You'd think by now tech would have brought them forward however they seem to be going backwards.

If you think of the amount they are pumping out at the moment (most of Fox's catalogue lol) I'd expect a dip in quality in all honesty

Yeah could well be that Rob. Also I heard for each steelbook they charge 2 EUR (4k production run). This seems awfully low to me, if that's the case then no wonder quality is hit and miss.

Mine arrived saturday, I hadn't expected the postman to deliver over Easter. I wasn't going to open mine, but then I read Kron's paint chip post. Mine has a few tiny paint chips but nothing I am going to freak out over.

I got mine in a couple of days ago. I actually forgot I had it on preorder and meant to cancel I threw it on ebay and hope someone bites. I would prefer to pick this up during the inevitable discount.

Staggering given the price. I'm to much of an Alien fanboy to pass it by, but luckily I got it for about £15 with their mother's day promo. I got mum an orchid instead. Funnily enough she's not into Alien. Bless her

They're hardly rush-jobs, but they might have a finish that you don't like.

They're all matte, like every other Fox release from recent memory. Aliens wasn't embossed which was presumably a decision from Zavvi (as it was their exclusive) or an error if Fox intended for them all to match.

I assume Fox just went for their standard matte/embossing combo that they use for all their catalog releases (The Omen, Brazil, Planet of the Apes etc.), with, as I say, Aliens being the exception.

With steelbooks, there's often little consistency even from the same studio...

Disney: Cars 2 = flat/matte, Bambi = embossed/gloss, Fantasia = embossed/matte
Warner: The Town = embossed/gloss, Man of Steel = flat/matte, Wrath of the Titans = flat/gloss

And so on and so on.

Agree but the paint quality on many of the Fox Steels isn't thick leading to paint chips.

yep same with the last wave - i bought a few copies of X2 around release and manny had inconsistent paint and colur issues if u looked close... and ofc who can forget the shockingly low resolution back art on Daredevil

It'll be a cold day in hell b4 i spend more than £15 on any of these fox steels despite how much i want Fantastic 4 & Last Stand ....lol amazon even have the cheek to put the price up on these to £20

I Still not got delivery yet
Was shipped on 8th of April

I have to wait 21 Days before Zavvi will do anything (29th of April)

I have received delivery of lot of other orders that were dispatched after the 8th of April


This Steelbook delivery is Alien to me


It should have been here by now but I have to wait a crazy 21 days to prove the obvious its missing

It has become normal for Fox releases in steelbook.
This is especially distressing to release to the dominant color black.

Alien finally arrived Zavvi box looked a bit worse for wear 18 days to arrive to me takes its wear and tear but steelbook itself was ok
