People need to remember that the ONLY reason play was so cheap is because they were based in the channel island which had Low Value Consignment Relief so they paid no VAT on products under £15, that law has now been scrapped which is the reason for the higher prices at amazon and zavvi.

Add to that increased costs (manufacturing, postage etc.), International shipping and a general decline in product quality resulting in more returns. Boom. There you go, the price rise is accounted for.

Folks, please keep general retailer discussion and speculation in the retailer thread not the release threads, thanks.

It would be more helpful to move posts than to simply delete them when members have taken time to write them, this is a discussion forum after all isn't it?

Our long time members should know that ongoing general pricing discussion should be in retailer threads not release threads. There is only so many times you can post a reminder, folks.

I went ahead and moved them to the zavvi retailer thread ... I understand the concern of having posts deleted, that sucks. But also as DB mentioned it should be in that area ... some times when modding you just have to do what is fast for the time being and in that sense it may have been to delete originally ... but that is fixed there and folks can feel free to chat up general pricing in that zavvi thread. Or just create a general pricing thread in the feedback section and can talk about all retailers in that one.

In other news .... and to put it back on track .... Im just very happy to see Gloss on this one. And to know the Queen also helped with insight on this release. ;)

The 6 disc Alien set is under £13 on Zavvi right now. £13 on Amazon too. Considering that, and that the 4 disc steelbook was only £20, £15 for this seems way too high.

Why?

I'd wager the majority buying this aren't buying it for the film (in that I mean they don't already own it) but are buying for the packaging, with that in mind it could be priced at £20+ and people would still bite

I already own all 4 films but would easily double dip if all 4 come out in individual high quality steelbooks

Too much coming on that one day.

You really do need to spread them out Zavvi. Just because we're collectors, doesn't mean we're all millionaires....

The Month of February is really going to be painful on the wallet. I miss the days that we would get excited for two or maybe one release in a month. :(

Not sure there would be too many biting at a £20+ price point. I already have 2 copies of these movies so I will be giving the steels a miss but I'm sure a lot of Alien fans are happy with these releases!:scat:

I'd imagine that the more this sells, then the better chance we have of seeing steelbooks for the others... that's usually how it works, right?

Usually, but I'd have thought if that's what they were doing with this then they'd have started with Alien. It's not like Alien isn't a classic.
