Hey guys! Wanted to share this with my fellow US & Canada members.

I suppose some of our European members can benefit from this as well.

I think this is very news worthy for all us steelbook collectors, so it deserves it's own thread for now.

I just got an order in from amazon.de and I was very surprised at the SIZE
of the box that appeared, just for 6 steelbooks. Well, it appears that for any
NEW release, that they haven't packaged up yet or a catalog release that might be on backorder (like my order of Judge Dredd was), they have a new box.

We all remember that the package had been improved recently to bubble wrap inside a foldover box. :movie:

Well, now there is a new box, frustration free packaging, SPECIFICALLY labeled for steelbooks / metal packaging.

Received Requeim for a Dream from amazon.ca today in the same old crappy bubble envelopes. It's undamaged though, for once.

Seems amazon.it use those card wraps for steelbooks as my Avengers came in one. I feel very fortunate that it arrived without damage all the way from Italy.

I don't understand, wouldn't it be more economical for amazon.de to use cardboard backs instead of printing the words on the back of the steelbook? That way it has broader appear imo...

What is amazon ca steelbook postage to the uk? I want to order I'm a legend steel but I'm not sure what there steelbook postage is like. I don't want to order if the steel is going to arrived battered.

They use large bubble envelopes, and steelbooks often arrive damaged from them. They are very good about refunds and replacements though, and their shipping, even the cheapest option, is the fastest out there.

I cannot believe my luck. Ordered The Wrestler steelbook from amazon.ca and, somehow, it arrived to the UK completely unscathed in nothing more than a padded envelope. Not to mention it only shipped 2 days ago. Pretty damn happy.

Just received this from Amazon.de. Can you see how the packer forced the steel into the slot and ripped the shrinkwrap (I'm OCD)? Not happy

Just received my copy of Minority Report today from Amazon UK. Came in a good size cardboard box stuffed with scrunched up paper. At least they made the effort.

I've bought from Amazon UK plenty of times and I have nothing but good things to say about the packages.

Amazon.co.jp...No padding at all...The box was crushed on both sides...Steels made it unharmed.

Order X-Men First Class and Gremlins 1+2 steelbooks from Amazon.Fr, delivery was superfast (maybe because it was France to UK). The steelbooks were individually packed in different sized boxes then placed in a bigger box (40x32x20cm). Steels were mint.

I just made a purchase form amazon de. This is my firs time importing from overseas so I hope everything turns out ok. Ive only heard good things about amazon with their packing and cust. service tho.

I bought a couple of steels from Amazon.de recently and I thought their packaging was really good box within a box

Amazon.ca on the other hand No foam no bubble wrap =| hope nothing is damaged

Upon further inspection, the shoddy packaging gave me 2 steels with a loose discs! Thankfully managed to pop it back in place! :O

I'm interested in buying a steelbook from Amazon Germany. It's being sold by a third party but fulfilled by Amazon. Does anyone know if Amazon will be doing the shipping or will the third party be doing it? I feel more comfortable if Amazon was doing the packaging and shipping. Thanks.

I heard back from Amazon Germanys' customer service. They said Amazon does the packaging and shipping. If there are issues with the order, they will also be the one to contact.

I ordered this on Sunday evening from Amazon.ca, it arrived Wdnesday morning, less than 3 working days from Canada, now that is service.

It's a fantastic SB also by the way for anyone deliberating, i'd say it's gone straight into my top 10.

Very good, i have ordered 3 Steelbooks from Amazon.ca over the last couple of months, never had an issue, this one was actually in a larger box stuffed with bubble wrap etc!!! For me, Canada has given me the best service by far, over the States, the Far East and certainly over the UK.

Were you charged any extra on top cos it was $26. I'm guessing you're from the UK?

No, nothing extra at all, i think the delivered price was about £21.50p if i remember rightly.

Think i'm gonna grab myself one of these instead of the red versions from France/Germany. I'll see if the German one pops up sometime later somewhere(trade etc..), then I'll grab it at that point. I would like both, but i'm tempted by the Kill Bill SB from Canada as well, so might as well add this to the package. Good to get some opinions, so thanks peeps.

If you're ordering from Amazon - order them individually or you'll get caught with customs charges. Also if you haven't ordered from Amazon.ca before, just choose the sloooooooow shipping option, never had one yet that didn't come via courier in about 2/3 days.

That's so true. I ordered it Sunday evening too. Shipped on Tuesday and DHL delivered it to me at work today. That's three working days to Norway!

I'm very very impressed!
