Any Who fans here?

Anyone who's seen my avatar (and knows what it is) may realise that I am a fan of the long running BBC TV show Dr Who. Are there any other fans of the series here? Anyone looking forward to the new series later this month - showing on BBC1 in the UK and BBC America in the US? Or am I the Lone "Anorak" here?

Although he was very popular as the Dr., especially in N. Ameica, he's not my favourite in the role. I prefered Patrick Troughton of all the early doctors.

Yes I know what you mean, there are many Who fans that were/are of the belief that he is the only actor to play the role and who don't realise that 11 people have played the Doctor on TV.

You should try to catch some of the David Tenant stories, or those with the current Doctor - Matt Smith. The production values on the modern series are a thousand times better than that of the 60s-80s stuff. Though to a lot of people (including me) the wobbly scenery and basic B&W camera work are part of the charm of the earlier versions of the show.

Have you heard about the "reboot" of Torchwood? The new series is being filmed in the States, but still features Captain Jack and Gwen, but has new American characters as well. Should be good.

yes i have, its being produced by the Starz Network and the BBC.

You may find that the following series is a bit weaker that the first, but I don't want to put you off. The best series (in my opinion) was the last one "The Children of Earth". But I'm looking forward to seeing how the new "American" series looks.

Torchwood 'Children of Earth' is an awesome series/story.
That's what they intend to do in the new Starz produced Torchwood, one story over 10 episodes, instead of the old recipe of a monster a week.
I always thought that the 'Children of Earth' series was the most ironic, it wouldn't have worked if you didn't know the characters as well as you do, but i think they wouldn't have gotten to that without the 'a monster a week' plot.

Looking forward to the new Dr.Who series on BBC soon, first episode is set/shot in the US, Arizona i believe (shoot me if i'm wrong..lol)

You won't be shot - you're quite right, the first (2 part) story of the new series was filmed in the States. Though there have been several stories set in America in the past, they were all filmed in the UK.

I just finished the third season of Dr. Who last night.... sooo good!

The whole series went off so good and tight!

Blink is the best Stand alone episode. Weeping Angels rule!

Utopia - Last of the Timelords was the best part of the whols story Arc!!

on to Torchwood Series 2 now.

Missed last night's episode but seen the first. This series is going to be VERY strange. Reading about it in Total Film,. Yum we are in for a wild ride this year. Series has been split in two as well.
