Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness: The Necronomicon. It will be available to buy as a triple-disc DVD and Blu-ray set from June 6.

A boxed set that boasts the third and final installment of the much beloved Evil Dead film cycle, Army of Darkness: The Necronomicon contains both versions of Army of Darkness (Theatrical and Director's Cut), a litany of special features and comes packaged in a one-off deluxe presentation.

In addition to the high definition original theatrical release offered on Blu-ray this volume also includes DVD versions of the theatrical and director's cut, 12 hand drawn pages from the Book of the Dead and extras all housed in a collectable rubber Necronomicon pack.

Bonus materials are many and include original drawings, documentary, 'Creating the Deadites', which explores the creation of the ground breaking visual effects, alternate ending, deleted scenes and audio commentary with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell who also provide comments and recollections for the director's cut and deleted scenes.

"This is a great event with which Via Vision is naturally excited to be associated with," says Nick Wayman, Via Vision Entertainment Executive. "The release is packed with materials that make this a must have for fans who love the Evil Dead trilogy, action and horror buffs and collectors of modern film classics."

I was going to go for this, but was so pleased I didn't and am now going for the Ultimate Edition from Germany

Interesting to note the differences in the faces on these as well. I have the Australian original release and the cover looks nothing like any of these shown in the posts, or the cover now showing on the (still available) one on the JBHiFi site!

Is this worth getting? I've heard more bad than good reviews

Also whats with the two versions:

second is the actual version.
Anybody have seen actual pictures of the "other" version?

I bought mine from jb from preoder, and book came with red lips...
I don't know if there is a second edition with other book, but I never have seen pictures like that.

I've never seen it either, I've only ever seen pictures of the second one. I'm pretty sure that's the only one there is and the first picture was just a mock up of the final design.

If i should order army of darkness, to the oder evil dead 1-2 i already have, who is the best release of the ones?

The best versions of the three to get are -

Evil Dead - US version
Evil Dead 2 - 25th Ann. US or UK version
Army of Darkness - German Ultimate Edition, or French Ultimate Edition
