Hi Wreck, I cannot believe I've missed this thread.
Personally there have been 3 main issues relating to the recent play releases (although not just play).
1) There seems to be far too much glue being used and not of the right sort. Any thoughts from those on high ?
This happens at a different level of the process. Retailer nor Scanavo do the "putting together of steels" studios use diff outfits to do this for the process. Bottom line ... the more complaints scanavo gets on this they will then have to bug the studios and/or those companies in charge of putting the steels together. (when i say putting together i mean discs inside and paper backings) We may have made some room tho as The Dark Knight Rises only had one glue spot on back ... *shrug*
2) The quality of the shrinkwrap used seems very haphazard and combined with the "overglue" is creating a pock mark effect on the steel. Also the "air holes" in the shrink are creating what look like pear drop holes (usually on the back thankfully), is this because of too high temperature being used in the shrink ? Any changes forecast or is this remain the same ?
Again you will see different shrink wrap from different Countries and diff studios steels from within those Countries. Dont know that there will be much room for change in regards to shrink wrap ... if we can get them to change some other practices like the glue then perhaps the shrinkwrap we collectors can just deal with

An OCD collector could open theirs sand re-shrink their own.
3) Whilst the thick card used is obviously a cheaper option, the glossier paper such as that used on Battle Royale gives a far better appearance and is easier to remove glue from, and doesn't become like sandpaper on the covered areas of the steel. Who chooses the "surround" material on the Steel ?
Depends on what company is doing the packaging. Again. Perhaps if there was some thread made here with what the ideal way they want a steel packaged ... ie. where they want the glue how much, type of paper etc. it would at least be something we could forward on. I would prefer no glue but im guessing they gotta get that back paper stuck on well enought to then shrink wrap fast. Perhaps just one glue spot in middle back could suffiec instead of those who put the glue on front and back and all over etc.
Sorry if this all sounds a bit negative it's not meant to be honest

but collectors expect the best from a premium product and it can be difficult with return rates that I have been seeing over the past couple of months.
The first 2 caused the vast majority of returns which I had to make, although not all.
Once again thanks for this forum and this thread.
I hear ya mate ... but you guys gotta give me a plan to then fire back at all without us looking like insanely anal crazy collectors. If it looks like we can never be pleased .. then people will stop catering to us if the demands are too crazy. We need a thread created that keeps it simple, fixes what people hate without everyone in the thread disagreeing otherwise they have no need to fix something that half like and half hate.

So if someone wants to head up "Project Glue" of whatever ... have at it.

and then if credible I will pass on to all the major players.

I know all the companies involved but I cant talk of some due to private requests.
