I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

I see many people are able to read on Amazon how many of a title is left in stock, but I cannot find the place this is displayed for love or money

Add the item to basket.... Click on basket then change the quantity to 999 and click on update.... This will then tell you how many are left

I don't know how much influence retailers have in regards to Steelbook packaging/contents, but is it possible that Zavvi exclusives could start to use those lovely clear full slipcovers (like those on Inception and Sherlock Holmes Germany). Much better than using cardboard/paper with glue or having stickers for the rating logos. I would happily pay an extra £1 if they started to use those

Hey Wreck,

The current Django Unchained Best Buy situation has me going NUTS!. While I TOTALLY have faith in you telling us that there WILL be a steelbook, I still have a burning question I would like answered...Don't the companies have to place their orders for steels MONTHS in advance?? I remember reading somewhere on this site that they had to place orders two months before a release date. With that being said how come Best Buy is always the LAST to know about their own releases!?!? It makes no freaking sense! Sorry if it seems like I'm ranting, it's been a long day LOL.

Well I never said it would be at best buy ... people took what I said and ran with that. Could it be... sure. (which is why i didnt deny it) Tho I'm not aware where it will be. I said there will be a US steelbook, and that is what I stand by. I have more intel obviously but cannot share and thus I tried to drop a small hint to try and help our US steel market. But one of our worst enemies to the USA steel market is the politics that surround it entirely. Especially when consumers want to report people in such a bogus way as to then seriously jeopardize things.

While it may not have stopped anything, it surely took us many steps back without people knowing it ... and without me being able to talk about it ... eggshells .... people watching.... Oh but the rabbit hole is deep...


to better answer your question ... like many things in life when placing orders that involve a lot of money it requires a contract. I would speculate that if one were doing a true exclusive then it would be harder to get out of a contract as opposed to a piggybacking.

Regardless I still feel strongly something will show its face.

In the meantime US retailers continue to suck on advertising when they think they are being strategical. So strategical that thousands of Americans just simply purchase the steelbook on amazon.co.uk who gladly ship to the USA.

The TW release is the Grail edition but you better hurry because they don't have many left. I bought mine at JSDVD. LINK

Agreed ... An asian release is going to be most limited and ultimately will command most $ down the line.

albeit there will always be many hobbit steels for people to choose from. So demand may be very niche on an asian steel years from now as many can get a cheaper version.

When everyone saw Play stock quickly dissappear it was cause it was bought out in large by a couple of folks .... I believe Zavvi was one, but not 100% sure on it. So yes you will see some of the Play titles elsewhere, but they arent reprints....

Early this week or late last week there was a brief moment that some Paramount steelbooks were available for pre-order from zavvi. I guess zavvi is preparing for selling them in the near future...^^a
