I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Hey John, Can you ask SCANOVO if they are aware of the spine slashes being made during the manufacturing process. The shrink wrap was not sliced at all, so it was not done by the retailer. I bought 2 from BBY, 2 separate times and all 4 had spine slashes. thanks

Hey Wreck, just wondering if you know if there are any plans for Film4 to release more steelbooks in the near future?
Trainspotting was a real surprise for me as it's in my top 10 films of all time. I may be wrong, but I think the last trainspotting DVD released right before the UK Blu-Ray was distributed by Universal (I remember because there was a lagging / juddering error on these discs that were never seen on previous releases) I know it's not the best looking steel ever but it's lovely to own it regardless, there are certain UK indie films that I would snap up in a heartbeat.

Is it ultimately a case of Universal owning the rights to Trainspotting and that's the only reason we saw a steel for this or was it indeed released by Film 4 themselves?

I was just looking through my amaray collection and was hoping and praying that we could see a release for Shallow Grave, Gangster No. 1 & Sexy Beast

Cheers,

James

Channel 4 / Film Four own the rights to Trainspotting and everything else that has their red logo on the sleeve - they produced the films, so I can't see them sub-licensing this to another studio anytime soon.

Hey Wreck, what is a steelbook(s) that got cancelled before we ever got to see it, and you know the Ninja community would've loved?

HDN exclusive #2,3,4 were looking pretty spectacular .... *sigh* working on #2 again now.

As far as on a title by title basis from other retailers I dont really know of a title that I can talk about publicly. But yeah there has been some stellar titles on the tables from many diff retailers i know of that have fell through for various reasons.

I'm a bit more proud of the times where a certain inner circle has got things changed for the better of the hobby/collectors. And while many industry folk may think everything should be on mass scale for higher numbers It's fun seeing things changed for better of the collector community and then watching the Steels still sell out prior to release and some in record time. ;)

The normal movie buyer may or may not buy that "metal case". But the collector who sees a SteelBook done right with the right boxes checked so to speak will not only hand over that cash willingly, but he'll buy 2,3,5,10,20, etc.

I'll let them know. If shrink is not affected then whilst its not retailer its also not Scanavo. Diff studios use diff replicators and those employees slash the boxes hence why slash is there and then shrinked.... But Scanavo can help assist in passing the word along.

Hey Wreck , do you know if Zavvi plans on doing anymore in the Kubrick steelbook line? I'm on the fence about ordering an existing 2001: A Space Odyssey because I'm afraid the second I do Zavvi will announce one with embossing.

So can we expect exclusive #2 still this year?

Also if those other HDN exclusives fell thru, can you discuss them? I would luv to know what they were and possible arts etc...

Only one pot on the stove right now. Tho if it happens it would be the movie's first steel appearance. Popular movie too.

Nah not yet sorry.

I'll ask.

Scanovo makes the cases and ships them to get discs. So the ones you are talking about are getting slashed after leaving Scanovo. All Scanovo would need to do is to put an extra piece of cardboard above the steelbooks before closing the shipping box. The extra cardboard should also be in place when they leave the disc place. Then no more slashes. :lightbulb:

They could use all the left over A1 mailers from Zavvi.
