This is a film known for the retro-psychedelic colors.... and they go with silver/gray???????
What in the world is going on here?? Who actually designs the art? Warner or Zavvi?
How many shades of grey? The swinging 60's have never been so...grey.
Whilst it is a combination of both studio and retailer I don't think you can lay too much blame on Zavvi. If they get offered a steelbook with artwork which they don't like do they refuse it which would leave the studio open to selling it trade wide to Amazon and other retailers. I don't think it's as easy as them just saying no we don't like it and passing. They are a business first and foremost and out to make money. If we'd keep leaving our feedback here who knows it might make a difference if they see such negative feedback to the artwork.People will probably start saying "it's not Zavvi's fault, it's the studios" - but that's simply not true. The studios don't say "we're sending you 2,000 steelbooks for Austin Powers, but we're not gonna tell you what they look like". The truth is there is a process whereby the design has to be signed off BY ZAVVI before anything else happens. Which means Zavvi COULD have said "what the **** does a boring grey vault have to do with this film, try again in 2 years when it's ACTUALLY the 20th anniversary" - but they clearly haven't and so we're stuck with this crap.
The studio is also to blame for coming up with such a stupid design in the first place, but Zavvi are in desperate need of a Zoneism type figure who can be a link between the studios, Zavvi, and the fans and collectors on forums like HDN to advise them about what people want and what is likely to sell. As it is Zavvi are often completely out of touch with what we want and in some cases neither they or the studio designers appear to have even seen the film they are designing / approving.
Live at 6pm UK from what i heardInterested in this, but not sure if it is sold out already or just an early post at Zavvi. I wouldn't miss a sleep for such artwork in this movie.. The designer might have his/her own reasons, but it look very lazy for me.

Zavvi can say what the like, doesn't mean it's going to make any difference to the studios what so ever; and they're the ones that have the final say.If Zavvi don't have the balls to say the likes of Austin Powers and Ratatouille look awful then of course they deserve a huge share of the blame.
Steady mate, Zavvi may just cancel your order if they think you're bulk buying!![emoji38]Got my 2 copies ordered.![]()
