Nah, the trailer did absolutely nothing for me. Would actually wet myself laughing if this bombed, but we know that's never going to happen. Happy for the fans though of course, and hope I'm able to eat my own words and end up enjoying it!
I'm absolutely with you on this, I think this is building on hype alone. IMHO I really don't think this is gonna be any good, I mean the first one aside from just the visuals it was mediocre at best. The trailer for this is just meh!

So it's not even 10% real, like new Star Wars were, more like 99% CGI - even in the human world bit with construction worker, he looked CGI.
And 'they're' probably seriously going to nominate it for best special effects Oscar along with normal movies... lunacy continues.

I remember back when the first one released and it was breaking records, so I admittedly got caught up in the hype, despite the trailer not really doing anything for me. When I eventually got to see it, I thought I was part of a cruel joke or something... it wasn't bad, but super mediocre, as you said. The saddest part of all this for me is that I feel Cameron will have wasted his remaining years purely on Avatar, and we've therefore missed out on some much better original works from him :(

IMO this is how many (of us) feel, tho I've never been huge Cameron fan. But still.

Damn, even though Avatar is pretty much just a generic story told with cutting edge visual technology, he should definitely direct all of them since they're his creation. Crazy that he spent the last decade just preparing the new technologies for shooting the new ones to being willing to give it up so easy.

I'm happy. Would like to see him doing something else. If he does 3rd one that's enuff. (I would like to see him quit after this one). He's not gonna live forever.

Yeah I agree on some level, but why did he spend the last decade doing these films then? I mean he worked for years without even shooting one single frame with delay after delay. So him stopping now kind of seems like either giving up because he's tired or that the story is just not worth the effort, which again would bring the question why he spent so much time on this in the first place. Don't know, he knows what he's doing. But given that he put so much work into this, at the same time putting out half assed things as a producer like Terminator Dark Fate and not directing Alita himself it always seemed like he wanted this pile of films to be his legacy and couldn't really concentrate on doing anything else. He even said once that he realized that he can tell all of the stories he wants to tell in that universe and doesn't need to do anything else. Giving that up kind of reveals that it's probably not so great to begin with.

He's just a man. Maybe he doesn't always know what he wants ? Takes too big task and realizes it after wards ? Maybe he's not totally happy with Avatar 2 but he's gotta let it out of his hands. There have been similar cases in film industry history. Maybe this will become another studio killer ... o_O

Is anybody sure they want more 4K releases from James Cameron?

Including Avatar and Titanic which are already coming at the end of this year or next year.
