i refuse to watch any other version but this one, so i will wait patiently until it is released. i bet a dollar that they will release the theatrical version first, then couple months later, release the extended version lol

Until the Panasonic or Sony deal that has this title locked we won't see it on stores. Too bad really because they could of made more money by having this available and not bundled with hardware.

Avatar 3D Blu-Ray Discussion thread

As owners of certain Panasonic sets will have early access to this disc, feel free to chime in once you've seen it, and share your thoughts.

Well I have just paid 160 euros on EBay for it. I have heard this is not officially being released until 2012. Any confirmation on that? Now I have to buy a 3d telly and player. EEK! So I hope if I get the telly and Avatar arrives and I dont go broke in the meantime, we will be seeing 3d all through Xmas.:p

That's all it is, a rumor. Nobody but Panasonic and Fox truly know the timeframe that Avatar 3D will be exclusive to the TV maker. People have speculated that it could be about a year since the last time James Cameron talked Avatar he said the Special Edition (released 2 weeks ago) was the last Avatar being released for the next two years (something along those lines). So take it with a grain of salt. BTW Avatar 3D looks freaking incredible in 3D ;)

Per German BD site-this is automatically translated by Google.

"14:12:10 In a Q & A with James Cameron and Jon Landau, you can view in our video section, the Canadian filmmaker has spoken about a possible release of the Blu-ray 3D Avatar. According to Cameron the corresponding 3-D version on Blu-ray disc should therefore be available only in about 2 years in the trade.

How, then, Panasonic journalist Steve May, confirmed the exclusive distribution rights to 2012 the Japanese company that says to lie, ie that the film in February 2012 will not be found in free trade. To even get to enjoy the Blu-ray 3D science fiction film, a 3D-capable device must be purchased by Panasonic. As we reported in November to be up to 22 January 2011, customers with the Blu-ray supplies, bought before the campaign period, a unit of Panasonic. Just add an e-mail must be in the news at the registered e-mail address will be sent to get a letter by mail, including the bill is sent back to Panasonic. Avatar 3D Promo extended through 2012

Per Homemedia Magazine:

Never made available at retail, the 3D Blu-ray Disc of Avatar is among the hardest discs to find. Panasonic is going to make it a little easier.

The consumer electronics company is expanding the promotional tie-in for the sci-fi epic, offering the disc to those who purchase a 3D Blu-ray player or 3D home theater system between March 1, 2011, and Feb. 29, 2012. New owners can redeem their disc via a mail-in coupon.

Previously Avatar in 3D was available only as a bundle with select Panasonic 3D plasma HDTVs and a 3D glasses kit. Now the offer has been tied into the purchase of Panasonic Blu-ray Disc players (DMP-BDT310, DMP-BDT210, DMP-BDT215, DMP-BDT110, DMP-BDT115) and Panasonic Blu-ray 3D home theater systems (SC-BTT770, SC-BTT370, SC-BTT270, SC-BTT268, SC-BTT273).

“As a leader in full HD 3D technology, Panasonic is proud to offer this exclusive bonus designed to give consumers the opportunity to bring the immersive world of 3D and Avatar 3D into their homes,” said Richard Simone, VP of Panasonic's Entertainment Group. “We are confident that a Panasonic Blu-ray 3D Disc player or system is the best possible way to fully appreciate the added dimension of this stunning movie while in the comfort of one’s home.”
