pretty good mate, just make sure you send it back recorded delivery.

It's a shop return freepost - they give you a certificate of proof of posting when you take it to the Post Office , why would you waste an extra 95p for recorded delivery ?
If it goes missing in the return post, you only need to keep hold of the receipt from the Post Office to get the refund sorted out.

lol ok, i pay recorded coz i want to know they have the item back. i have sent back an item before without recorded delivery and it took them over 3 weeks to refund me,now when i pay the extra i get a refund / replacement out inside 3 days.

3 of mine have the score across Tony Starks face. It can't just be a box cutter with this many?

The shrink wrap is torn, but no slash on the spine, there is a deep cut on the rear lip though.

Agree. If it were a boxcutter surely those scratches would be straight and uniform? Instead it looks as though the opener has done several laps with it just to cut through some tape.

I urge everyone who had this problem to complain.

As we speak the warehouse staff are probably ripping their blades down the back of Cabin in the Woods.

I'm kind of glad Disney are getting a lot of stick for this release, they really need to clean up their acts on the steelbook front.

I think their standard releases need attention as well

no HD audio on John Carter or POTC 4 (just DTS-HR instead)
No bonus disc on Incredibles
Avengers (currently being discussed)

i decided to goto the shop to buy mine...

not a solution to the overall problem with hmv but alot easier than messing about sending things back

i hope hmv listen and you guys get these issues sorted

BBFC have just issued a statement about the cut

BBFC Statement: MARVEL AVENGERS ASSEMBLE DVD/Blu-Ray
September 18th, 2012

The DVD/Blu-ray version of MARVEL AVENGERS ASSEMBLE is classified 12. It differs from the theatrical version submitted to the BBFC which is classified 12A.

In publishing the Extended Classification Information (ECI) for the DVD/Blu-ray MARVEL AVENGERS ASSEMBLE, a technical error occurred and the theatrical ECI was published on the BBFC website instead of the DVD/Blu-ray ECI.

The theatrical ECI highlights a scene in the film where the tip of a spear is seen protruding from a man’s chest. This scene was absent from the DVD/Blu-ray MARVEL AVENGERS ASSEMBLE and does not appear in the DVD/Blu-ray ECI. The website error has now been rectified and the correct ECI for the DVD/Blu-ray is now

well i dont think its anything to do with ppl opening boxes in the warehouses what are the odds of so many damaged spines? just doesn't add up plus they usually come in boxes of 25 facing sideways with the box opening down the middle so the most damage that could be done would just be a small horizontal line across the spine and not the full length

in my opinion i think its a manufacturing fault..unless hmv have a phantom steelbook slasher :hilarious:

That is exactly the issue, as in this pic.

I guarantee you it is the fault of warehouse unpackers who have slashed open the boxes with a sharp blade. I've seen it done first hand and it causes exactly that result. There is no part of the manufacture that would cause the spines to be cut like that.

On all mine the blade has sliced open the shrink wrap and scored the surface of the steel, leaving a bare metal scratch. HMV need to have words with their warehouse staff, because otherwise this is going to happen again and again.

It IS a small horizontal line across the spine.

Some of you are still lucky to get Disney Steelbooks! :p These Vivas a pretty, but I don't like the quality. Could be just me.

You're right Horhay, if there's one thing we CAN be grateful for it's that we get a Steelbook. Cuts and scratches aside, this is a very nice release.

OK, nearly a day in and (the slashed spine fiasco not with standing -3 of my 9 were damaged), I have to say I'm quite underwhelmed with this steelbook.

The embossing is not nearly as pronounced as I'd allowed myself to hope and the finish is quite cheap - was anticipating a nice dark matt finish.

Someone posted earlier about how easy it was to mark with fingerprints and have to agree - I had copy with a very unsightly 'smudge' on it, so decided to open it up and see if I could clean it up (I always open my steelbooks) - but alas it just made it worse and if anything scratched the surface of the steelbook :(

Sending 4 back for refunds and don't think I'll replace them..
