3 of mine have the score across Tony Starks face. It can't just be a box cutter with this many?

The shrink wrap is torn, but no slash on the spine, there is a deep cut on the rear lip though.

Just got in from work to have the missus have a go at me about the post. I had no idea what she was rambling on about until I saw the HMV boxes. I thought I'd ordered them to work. Ooops. :D

The packaging is absolutely shoddy. It really is. After reading all the comments about the knife marks on the spine, I was really ******** it opening them up.

Miraculously I've escaped the Edward Scissorhands packer :oohyeah: and any damage to ANY of my copies.

It really is a lovely looking steelbook though. Well worth the £12.79 I paid for it. The inside art is lovely too, so I'm very happy and more so relieved.

After seeing the damage on the photo, I went and checked mine with a torch under the brightest light in the house (with my wife shaking her head in the background) and all is well, which is a miracle considering the corner was completely crushed, why don't they follow Play?

After another inspection, I've noticed the smallest of knife cuts along the spine.

What the hell are HMV playing at?

I myself work in a book warehouse, and if a book gets the smallest of rips, it goes into our damaged books area, then eventually sent away for pulping, we wouldn't dream of sending out damaged books.

Excellent, thanks for that.

One last thing, is it worth me taking it into the store for a replacement? even though I purchased it online.

I believe that they won't allow you an exchange or refund in store since the online store and the bricks and mortar stores are run separately.

Actually, you can take it into a store.

Tell them you bought it from the store but you don't have your receipt. As it is a HMV exclusive with HMV stickers all over it, they would have to take your word that you bought it in store. Hust remove the "online barcode" sticker carefully. I've removed mine carefully.

OR, you could just open the whole thing up as HMV store repackage returned steelbooks.

it's not just HMV that send out steelbooks with slashed spines. amazon and play too :(

Actually HMV, Play and Amazon don't get to inspect the steelbooks before they are dispatched.

They are only seen by warehouse staff. I am guessing the companies are relying on the warehouses reporting damaged goods before they are sold as new.

If people have spare cash they could go into their local HMV and buy one with no damage and use this receipt to take back their old damaged one and get a refund. Saves the hassle of sending it back through the mail and waiting days on another one which could still be damaged.
