This thread has been created to provide insight for folks trading and buying. Sometimes knowing that a guy/gal has some or MANY successful trades/sales is good peace of mind.

IF THE PERSON DOESN'T HAVE LOTS OF GOOD TRADER RATING FEEDBACK, AND YOU DONT KNOW THEM, THEN PRIVATE MESSAGE a Trading Moderator. We can try to get you the info you need to feel safe and or make a safe trade/purchase!

As we all know, trading is at your own risk. However, we are able to stop many deals from turning sour if you enable us. We have one bad person who has been a scam artist at many HT/Blu-ray sites besides ours.

The posts below are from when this was a Good Traders/Bad Traders list ... from the date this OP has been updated ... this thread will only serve as a Buyer Beware and Hall of Shame for those bad traders out there. If you need info on good traders view their trader rating under their avatar in the post bit (to the left) or PM a Mod.

I suggest you PM a mod for any deal over $75 if you dont know the person, regardless if they have 3 successful feedbacks etc. This is YOUR community as much as it is OURS, and we'll make the time everytime to make it as safe as possible for all.

Added 1/23/2012:

Just a general reminder - If you are experiencing difficulty with a trade at our site, feel free to contact a Trade Moderator, and we can provide suggestions on how to resolve the matter, if the trade took place at our site.

If, despite repeated attempts to resolve the trade/contact the trader, you do not receive any communication, or items, etc, please use the Feedback system in place at the site, or the rest of the community will not be aware of issues with traders. In addition, you have a limited time frame to file Paypal disputes, so please familiarize yourself with that process, just in case, to further protect yourself. In addition, the Staff will take action against accounts for repeat offenders if absolutely necessary.

Well, I tell you what's unfair: Having put me on an ignore list 5 years ago without ever explaining to me why (since I did nothing wrong during those Group Buys 5 years ago) and telling lies in the forum that he told me to never participate again in his Group Buys. I can still find all PM's he sent to me and he never sent me something like that. So it's no wonder he actually was never able to read my concerning PM's. If I had known that I was on an ignore list (without any reason) I would have never participated in these new Group Buys 5 years later. And no, this OCD thing does not apply to me only, I've seen members posting images in this forum being even more fussy...Also, I don't speak about damage under a J-Card in sealed condition nobody can see before opening, I speak about damage clearly already visible in sealed condition by just looking for 10 seconds at the Steelbook...Whatever, has been discussed in another thread already. It's okay, I've been insulted by being called rude, aggressive and obnoxious while the Group Buy host still tells his lies and ignores me without ever explaining what I did wrong 5 years ago and without providing any proof...
Sometimes unfortunate events happen and it seems clear as day to one party how things went down. And yet at the same time, the other remembers the events as well, but has a completely different take on them. Sometimes it's not about lying. Sometimes it can be misremembering, or confusing members with one another. I'm not apsmith and don't know him at all, and I'm not you, but I've been in more than one situation that looked polar opposite to conflicting views.

Personally I've found it best to just move on. I feel for you and your situation, but bemoaning it and laying down insults, whether you feel justified or not, is usually not the best coarse of action.

I hope this gets cleared up and there is some satisfaction for you.

best buy steelbooks have defects from the get go in probably 99% of all cases and theres nothing that can be done about that... unfortunately no one is going to order 500 copies to find that one OCD mint copy for you... at least not for the original retail price+ a measly 2$ fee.. i know it sucks and i would prefer truly mint copies myself, but ive accepted this new "best buy mint" lol.. and in 99% of all cases you get a copy in MUCH better condition and much better packaging than ordering from ebay or anywhere else
Depends on the item. For something like Hunger Games, I tried a bunch of times and never got a pristine box, but I got acceptable by going to 2 different stores (after both copies that were shipped were damaged. It was a PITA and it’s gotta be even harder for a group buy.
Regardless, once you open it, it’s yours. end of story (unless you live near a BB and they’re willing to swap it).

They shut me down on returns in person a couple of months before the pandemic started.

Less so now but I used to return about a case at a time, like 20 steelbooks or more.

All legit damages. Dings, dents, smashed.

One day one of the managers there told me not to come back with any more returns.

Best Buy has always had sketchy CS. About 20 years ago, i bought a game and they refused to price match a local seller (that they always price matched), because it was a lot less, using the excuse that they don’t price match computers. It was total BS and I boycotted them for almost 10 years. As we’ve discussed before, aside form steels that I can’t buy elsewhere (or if I have 5 dollar coupons about expire), I’m just not doing business with them after they screwed me on my top elite status (which I got by going out of my way to make purchases with them last yhear when i could have gone elsewhere. It’s their loss.

Yeah, I don't know what happened there, obviously, but I wanted to add an opposite experience. I didn't just order a few items and waited silently for them to arrive, but had to contact @apsmith21 numerous times because of all the imposed trouble with paying and sending items to Russia, even changed address twice, and he always replied fairly promptly and helped with everything.
I'm even sorry I tried ordering this recent steel of Hell or High Water through a freight forwarding company, that are saying it's been shipped to them but they didn't receive it yet, a week after release within the US, since there's a non-PayPal way to pay now here.
So, anyway, I'm very thankful for all his help, $2-3 extra is nothing compared to what everyone else charges.

hi all, please be aware that member @Georges dikranjian has opened over 12 cases against HDN for group buy items that have previously been delivered, going back as far as January of this year. He has disputed shipping invoices as well as all the purchases he made. At the root of the issue was slight damage to one of the slips that he received.

As you know, we can't issue full refunds on items that we send on to you here, as we only charge that small fee. If one does the math, you'd realize that for a full refund on any of the most recent Lionsgate wave would wipe out the fee received from over 20 copies of that edition.

That being said, this member might have put future group buys at risk, given the large amount of funds in dispute.

I'm posting here as this member was not active in the community via threads but might have purchased an item from you or from another group buy.

For anyone following along at home, Paypal sided with the buyer even though he never replied to any of his cases that were opened or sent his items back.

They refunded him over $450...and that's why we don't use Paypal any more.

I would call the police in and sue paypal. Seriously this is blatant fraud and theft. No way would I let this drop.

Probably PayPal asked you (as seller) to offer a return of items which buyer opened a dispute each.

If the return hasn't been accepted or (in the 180 days of period after the invoice) does not come from seller as an option, seller would be responsible of refunding the funds claimed.
PayPal is clear about that; whenever you charge a small or big fee for your GB's, seller is responsible of damages of the products if they are "new".

From now on, if you don't accept PayPal is legit and fine. Whoever wants to join have to accept marks, dents, scratches and damages, despite of the fact of high probability of these faults.

it was 1 item though that was damaged and he has opened claim for TWELVE.. how can anyone try and defend that behaviour lol.. you complain abount resellers at every opportunity but when someone blatantly scams somebody you have all the understanding in the world lol.. pAyPaL iS cLeAr aBoUt tHaT

PayPal doesn't let the buyer wins if ONLY one item is damaged (of 12 different invoices).
Buyer has to open 12 disputes, with 12 different reasons, and have to add photos of damages for these 12 orders.

If the claims were closed in favour to the buyer, it's because the damages were there, in these 12 orders/products, and the seller didn't offer the return option.

PayPal is not silly.
It is necessary to update proofs, and if the dispute were close as @apsmith21 said, proofs have been accepted and legit.

Also I don't defend anything here. PayPal has rules.

lol I'm not going to show screenshots but the cases opened had the same exact description, no photos and no details. and I offered the buyer to return the items and he never replied.

I escalated to paypal after 7 days with no response and they closed the cases in the buyers favor...

The HDN account has $450 less than it did a few hours ago...

You can "appeal" the decision but you need to provide "proof" something has changed over what was already in the case. Which TBF has me baffled...

PayPal always seems to side in favour of the buyer in my experience, and I’m not surprised they’ve got away with it with no pictures or proof otherwise of their claim.

I’m sure you will but I would highly recommend you appeal and engage in a conversation with PayPal about it. I’ve had much more success with speaking with them over the phone rather than by email/chat.

Do you have any pictures of the items you sent them before you boxed them up? They aren’t going to know whether the picture is the exact copy you shipped or not so if you’ve got any copies left, just flog them a picture of that.

Play them at their own game and see who wins! What are they going to do? Damage all 12 steels and take pictures to prove a point? Best luck to the scum!

So that Georges guy who ranted about missing the Interstellar Manta lab OC ( a movie he thought was mediocre) and demanded manta make a VIP list ...scammed HDN for $450!!! Wow I am shocked that PayPal would rule in his favour!

@Chemartin_1
You said the damages must have been there, for all we know he took some online images of damaged steelbooks and showed those to PayPal.

Apsmith21 should definitely try to go for an appeal and call PayPal demand the seller shows each damaged item with proof so name and date of the buyer in this case Big baby Georges.

Wow, that's real bulls..., how could they side with the buyer, on ALL cases!?
I never liked paypal, they screwed me out of a few thousand dollars for an import telly back in 2003, and for that small amount paid to MonkeyPsychos.

I once accidentally switched my account to Business, because they offered something that sounded cool, then wouldn't switch me back, when started asking for documentation I never knew I'd need to present, and blocked the account. On top of that they wouldn't let me use any of the bank accounts or cards that were tied to that blocked account on another they themselves advised to open. A bunch of moronic bureaucratic crap. I hope their business closes first, when cryptocurrency takes over.

yeah, one would hope that they would work like this, but unfortunately they side with the buyer almost every time without him having to provide a coherent story and proof

@apsmith21 don't give up. it is possible to win as seller. i won 100% of cases against scammers but it was never on first try. it was always money with customer and no items returned. sometimes i had to spend a month in order to win but i got there. just don't give up and call them instead chat.

We gave them a ring and they agreed it was a mistake! HDN won the appeal! Yay!

What a roller coaster of a day.
