I can't believe there isn't a thread in here strictly for Beer. Well now there is.

So I'm going to Phoenix and this store is about 3 miles from the house I am renting. I need some recommendations of beer they sell. I'm looking for Hoppy beers please. I've had a few of them they sell but not allot. HELP ME OUT!

Thanks

BoB

thats incredible! how many BA's do you have going to this? and what did you bring?

i need to find some milwaukee BA's and go to one of these. the one dude i found said that most milwaukee BA's are fairly shy. :(

I'm trying to track down a bottle of Goose Island Bourbon County Vanilla this year. I was considering driving down to Chicago for the release of King Henry, cause they are also selling bottles of '10 Vanilla, but it was just too much driving, and we have to drive back to northern WI for Thanksgiving that same day.

Just thought I'd post here so you guys can wish me luck, cause I'm gonna need a lot of it to track one of these rare boys down ;)

Any luck on this one? I'd love to find one as well.

This looks like my "wants" list! I have had the Mega Blend, and I thought it was outstanding!

so far no. i was hoping id find a generous BA who would pick one up for me at the release last friday, but apparently there were only 60 bottles they were handing out, and they gave 2 per person so only 30 people got a bottle EEK!

ill probably have to trade my other CBS if i really want one. or maybe if i can pick up a king henry and possibly trade for it.

do you guys know if they make their flavored BCBS again? i know they wont make Rare anymore, but it seems like there is a chance they could make Vanilla in future years?

I doubt they will, but I could be wrong. The last that I had heard was that the vanilla was retired. I bet you'd have to trade more than a CBS for one, but I could be wrong.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this, but a few days ago one of my local beer fans found a store that had 30 bottles of BCBS from 2007. Two of the 19 that he picked up are aging comfortably in my basement beer area.

thats an incredible find! sounds like you need to work on a nice vertical and invite your HDN beer friends over for a BCBS tasting ;)

We told him to get all 30 because they would all find a home very easily, but he only had enough on him to get the 19.

It would take some work to get a verticle of BCBS due to the fact that I have my two bottles from 2007 and a BCBS - Coffee, but don't know the year. I am working on putting together verticles of Schlafly's Reserver Imperial Stout and Barleywine Ale. I've got a bottle of 2008 for both.

I have a full BCBS vertical. 03-10. 03 is the hardest to find because it was brewery release only. Also BCBCS was released in 09 I believe. A new batch should be released soon.

I'm really looking forward to it's release! Eventually I might try to fill in the gaps and start hunting for 2008-2010.

You'll probably see a BCBCS (Bourbon County Brand Coffee Stout) or a BCBVS (Bourbon County Brand Vanilla Stout) ocassionally too.

One of our local breweries, Perennial, has their big stout, Abraxis, coming out soon. I'm anxious to try it. Kinda sad that I missed out on the Vanilla Bean Abraxis that was a one time only beer. They had it out during their opening night.

Man all of that must be left over from their wood and barrel aged fest. I would be hammered. Instead of Huma try the Bourbon Barrel Huma. Regular Huma you can buy 6 packs at a store. Try Shorts Sour Puss. Also try some Livery stuff Kentucky Kaffinator or 5th Diemension. All of the beers you listed will probably be about $9-10 a glass. Its almost not worth walking over to founders with the taplist that Hopcat has. Make sure you get to eat the Grandwich or Crack Fries!!! lol

All of that should get you plenty drunk to stumble home.

I agree with Splax, and found a few others:

Dieu de Ciel Peche Mortel 12oz(9.5%ABV) - I've heard good things about this one.
Dogfish Head Palo Santo Marron 12oz(12.0%ABV) - I've got two at home.
Drie Fontienen Oude Geuze 25.4oz(6.0%ABV) - Very good!
Drie Fontienen Oude Kriek 375ml(6.0%ABV) - Also very good!
Founders Nemesis
Founders Breakfast Stout

No pic, but recently had New Belgium's Snow Day and 1554 ... I prefer 1554 , but both were good.
