Even if you're gonna say you don't believe it's "mine" did you credit "him"?
I make custom covers. I never do THIS.

Thief?! I pull all my artwork from google. If it was really yours 'which I doubt very seriously' you should have digitally signed it. I verify all my images if they are digitally signed. This image was not.

I have asked permission on several pieces from people from Deviant and a couple of people gave me permission and one did not so I just moved on to the next piece.
If it was really yours you should have secured it some place like Zenfolio where they are protected. To come on here and start calling people a thief which is inflammatory we don't tolerate. Thank you for appreciating my work. I think it looks pretty good.![]()
I like the second one for Silent Hill! Very cool.
I'm not appreciating it because the aspect ratio for the poster is off.
He looks too wide, it's visually jarring.
Yes the poster is really mine, yes it is upsetting. Go to the deviantart page of it, look at the views to downloads ratio. Over 25,000 downloads. Not even 5,000 views.
Which means, people too lazy to check their sources just pulled it off of google and used it for whatever.
You claim you've asked certain deviants to use their work, but I never got a question. I answer -all- my notes.
You should've checked where it's from because it's clearly not official.
The pose he's in is an amalgam of two behind the scenes shots that I had to digitally touch up myself and color grade to match each other. The vehicle behind him isn't even in the movie, and he rides a motorcycle anyways.
If someone took one of your custom covers, one you spent ages perfecting, altered it a little bit posted it somewhere else and said "hey look what I did!"
Wouldn't you be upset?
I for one am upset, because you're not the only one who's done this.
Again... twenty five thousand downloads. Youtube videos, blogs, arrow in the head, joblo, everyone seems keen to use my poster. Not one single person has ever even asked.
I also can't believe that you not checking your sources is somehow -my- fault for not registering it on some site that I'd have to -pay- for.
I don't have money for that. I guess a little common decency is just too hard for people isn't it? So yes, I reiterate: thief.
I can actually prove the picture originates from that deviantart.
If you look at the date it was published on there, and then do a google search (click and drag the picture into the image search box, surely you know the drill) and set up the time filters to show you the oldest posted (or you can manually wing it. tedious, but effective.) you will see it never existed anywhere before 'invisiblepredator' uploaded it on his DeviantART.
How can you be sure that I'm 'invisiblepredator' from deviantart?
I can write a whole journal about this, which will in turn show up on his profile.
I can articulate how frustrating it is and how nobody seems willing to credit a hard working artist anymore. I can also single out your screenname in the journal if you want.
But I'm willing to drop all this and shake on it, so to speak, if you just put in that picture in tiny-ass little lettering down at the bottom: "art by invisiblepredator"
And that's all.
Edit:
Also, I'm not a very popular deviant.
I take comfort in the fact I toil away in relative obscurity, that way when someone does like my art and lets me know, it's very rewarding. I don't put watermarks on my pictures because the ones that even work, are massive, ugly, and distracting. The tinier ones? Easy to photoshop out.
If there's another way to digitally 'sign' my art, I don't know about it, because I've never needed it.
It's also moot at this point since there are over 25,000 people who've taken it already. I'm relegated to accidentally bumping into it everywhere I turn, and having to prove it's mine. It's infuriating.
Thanks for, in the end, being such a sport about it.
Some people tend to be jerks. And I've faced alot of that too.
If you'd like however, I can make a poster for your cover, blu ray sized, and with some of the new production stills.
Just as like... a peace pipe, so to speak.
I do apologize for using it had I known it was yours I would have asked. It is a cool looking piece, if only he would look like that in the upcoming movie.
That would be nice but I have kind of stopped making these, it's a kind offer though.I do apologize for using it had I known it was yours I would have asked. It is a cool looking piece, if only he would look like that in the upcoming movie.
