Per German BD site-more details on the Steelbook edition-translated into English:

"And while the Special Edition will come along in a slipcase, and it included a total of 3 Blu-ray discs. On the first disc are the longer Director's Cut with a duration of approximately 208 minutes including the already known extras. The second disc is the first time include the original theatrical version with a running time of about 149 minutes, and additional bonus material and on the third Blu-ray will find the original radio play. Disc 3 is equivalent to a Pure Audio Blu-ray.

Besides the high quality packaging and the gigantic, content scope, including the two film versions and various extras, is located in the interior of the set are also still a 52-page companion book. As a commercial launch date will be the 15th September 2011".

Per Surfury-

1) It has a slip cover (with a cut-away at the top to reveal ....)
2) The case is embossed/debossed (I'll let the purists work out which it is)
3) It is a Jumbo Steelbook
4) It is The Director's Cut (1997) (208 mins) but also has the original cut (1981) (149 mins)
5) Audio is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 in German ONLY as are Subtitles.
6) Extras are 359 mins
7) There are 3 discs

Hmmm, though the German BD site seems to confirm that Euro Video has announced a "Steelbook", I am not sure why a 3 Disc ed needs such a large case, unless it comes with something else. As usual, this may just be preliminary art, but I'll wait until we get closer to to consider this. Unfortunately the last Euro Video "Steelbook", as still listed on Amazon (Audio Book), is not actually a "Steelbook". The staff at Euro Arts confirmed it was not by Scanavo and was just a different Metal Box (Metal Pak, Star Metal Pak). I'll stay tuned...

I just watched this for the first time last week. Pretty darn good, I love submarine movies when made right. So tense! And this one has some really cool scenes in regards to "tension".
