Japan really don't deserve this steelbook! It has a rating of 2.3 out of 5 on Amazon JP! You'da thunk they'd do a steelbook for the country from which most of Judge Dredd's fans are based i.e. the UK.

I doubt 7 users on amazon represent Japan's response to the film and if Japan didn't make the steelbook (mostly for the international market) we wouldn't have one at all.

Despite being a flop, the strongest box-office/blu-ray/download/DVD sales for Dredd were all in the US.

Unfortunately the UK's response to the film wasn't as strong as it should've been (2000AD's always been an un-appreciated underdog by the masses) and Entertainment Films didn't make back the money they paid for the distribution rights ($7million) and made a large loss. It made about $7 million at the UK box-office but theatres take nearly half that before the distributor gets their share so hopefully bluray sales make up the short-fall.

I put in an order for this and The Goonies through HMV a while back. It's my first time branching out into ordering Japan steelbooks so here's hoping for a smooth transaction.

And that's for the Japanese DVD, I think, not the Blu-ray.

Not only that, but it also says Tsutaya only and the last batch of "exclusive steelbooks" they put out ended up actually being metalpaks instead!

I'm not in trust mode with Tsutaya at the moment...

Is Region A confirmed or suspected? Region locking really is an annoyance, at least it's not as bad as the DVD days ;)

it's better in some aspects, but back then I bought a region free DVD player for $25. No messing with button combinations. Put any DVD into it and it plays.

Excuse the question but this is my first foray into Japanese steels :D

Is the general consensus that it's better to purchase from HMV.jp instead of Amazon.jp? I heard members say that HMV has better packaging. Is that true?
