Drive (Possible Blu-ray SteelBook) - Mondo artwork

Hey guys! I've been asked to gauge the response of our membership here and your feedback will help determine if this steelbook and potentially other steelbooks like it become a reality! I hope you are as excited as I am about this opportunity to weigh in on the beginnings of the steelbook process.

If you're not familiar with Mondo, and what they do, here's a small overview...

Mondo creates limited edition screen printed posters for our favorite classic and contemporary films, in addition to vinyl movie soundtracks, VHS re-issues, and apparel. We also have a permanent gallery space in Austin, TX featuring a mix of original artwork and limited edition screen prints.

Here's the art that has the best chance of being approved! DRIVE.



What could set this steelbook apart?

1) As we already said, Mondo artwork
2) For part of the finish, a number of layers of paint can be applied to the steelbook. Whites appear whiter, and color contrasts should appear starker when seen in person.
3) HIGH GLOSS
4) No debossing or embossing as it would detract from the new "layered" effect
5) WEA artwork
6) Potential minimum print run of 4,000 units

Where would this steelbook be released? I can't say right now, but let us know your feedback. If you have other design ideas, let us know, and maybe they will be included in the final product!

The way they do the shading on the faces looks like they all have a disease. I was an Art major, so maybe thats why I am so picky. I prefer realistic shading.

Well that's just Ken Taylor, but Mondo uses a plethora of artists, all with their distinct styles that are nothing like what you're describing. I cannot believe that someone can find nothing to like in the works of such amazing artists as Tyler Stout, Martin Ansin, Olly Moss, Kevin Tong, JC Richard, Jay Shaw, Daniel Danger, Aaron Horkey etc.

I'm with ya there. In my opinion there's too much going on, the face and jacket isn't quite right, the rest is cool though and I can see with a few minor adjustments that this could be a killer steel, but as is I think I would pass.

The thing I like most about this Drive Mondo mock up is that Gossling is holding a hammer!!! I wish they would have put a hammer in his hand on the HMV. If mondo plans to top the HMV edition, then that will be a big challenge for Mondo....I am D-Down for a Double-Dip so Mondo, please make this happen. When need a 1/4 slip and a Full Slip with some extras.... and first round orders 1 per collector deal....

I surely wont. I had voted no back when this was only at two pages. The mondo art is cool but I really am not a fan of the movie.... AT ALL.

With that said I would like this made simply because I enjoy the look of other mondo posters and if it meant that other movies would be put out im all for it. I do hope this is successful!

So I wish you all the best and I really hope they put out damn thing so it will hopefully lead to other steels

Agree, I tried to order that Back to the Future trilogy when they went on sale, but as most Mondos, it sold out in seconds and I missed it. So, I went right to eBay and bought it for like $200. Not too bad since it came with 3 posters, but more than I would have liked to have paid.

Bit isnt the question 'wouldnt you like this steelbook made?' If you would like to see it made then put your vote in. Then we will have a look at the price.

Would definitely be interested in all the steelbooks line, my collection need an artistic & classy line and Mondo will certainly deliver based on their magnificent work and this beauty, bring it on!
