Drive (Possible Blu-ray SteelBook) - Mondo artwork

Hey guys! I've been asked to gauge the response of our membership here and your feedback will help determine if this steelbook and potentially other steelbooks like it become a reality! I hope you are as excited as I am about this opportunity to weigh in on the beginnings of the steelbook process.

If you're not familiar with Mondo, and what they do, here's a small overview...

Mondo creates limited edition screen printed posters for our favorite classic and contemporary films, in addition to vinyl movie soundtracks, VHS re-issues, and apparel. We also have a permanent gallery space in Austin, TX featuring a mix of original artwork and limited edition screen prints.

Here's the art that has the best chance of being approved! DRIVE.



What could set this steelbook apart?

1) As we already said, Mondo artwork
2) For part of the finish, a number of layers of paint can be applied to the steelbook. Whites appear whiter, and color contrasts should appear starker when seen in person.
3) HIGH GLOSS
4) No debossing or embossing as it would detract from the new "layered" effect
5) WEA artwork
6) Potential minimum print run of 4,000 units

Where would this steelbook be released? I can't say right now, but let us know your feedback. If you have other design ideas, let us know, and maybe they will be included in the final product!

Would say NO to keep the original HMV rare but I could keep this one sealed as my Drive is already open lol

anyway, in the back i'd continue those graphic white street lines and create a cool minimalistic scorpion.

Naaaa that's a huge work to do for free ... but it should come out nice

here's the classic drive scorpion in a basic shape

well, i'd work on making those lines like road interceptions, joining the original artwork on the front, losing a bit on symmetry to gain realism

anyway i'd stay on a clean back, white roads/scorpion (with thin lines) on the top and a small illustrated hammer (or the stunt mask) above the movie credits on the bottom

and not too much pink on the back

that's all

Brilliant idea! Will be interesting to see what they do actually come up with for back art... I'd personally love to see your suggestion come to life.

Remember to vote whether you would buy this. Let's send a strong message to the studios for more worldwide exclusive artwork and special treatment of the SteelBook of movies we love.

We are about 300 total votes now, it would be amazing if we get over 500. Vote even if you don't like it.

I'd snap up one of these immediately. The mock-up looks amazing. Nice vibrant colour and a great finish would make this the steelbook of the year.
