Hey guys! I've been asked to gauge the response of our membership here and your feedback will help determine if this steelbook and potentially other steelbooks like it become a reality! I hope you are as excited as I am about this opportunity to weigh in on the beginnings of the steelbook process.

If you're not familiar with Mondo, and what they do, here's a small overview...

Mondo creates limited edition screen printed posters for our favorite classic and contemporary films, in addition to vinyl movie soundtracks, VHS re-issues, and apparel. We also have a permanent gallery space in Austin, TX featuring a mix of original artwork and limited edition screen prints.

See more of what they do at http://www.mondotees.com

Here's the art that has the best chance of being approved! DRIVE.

What could set this steelbook apart?

1) As we already said, Mondo artwork
2) For part of the finish, a number of layers of paint can be applied to the steelbook. Whites appear whiter, and color contrasts should appear starker when seen in person.
3) HIGH GLOSS
4) No debossing or embossing as it would detract from the new "layered" effect
5) WEA artwork
6) Potential minimum print run of 4,000 units

Where would this steelbook be released? I can't say right now, but let us know your feedback. If you have other design ideas, let us know, and maybe they will be included in the final product!

There is nothing collectable about endless reprints and rereleases.

What ppl buy is thier own business, but dont hype this as being remotely collectable when we all know that if its successful or desirable, it WILL be reprinted or re-relased again (and again and again).

Retailers gotta Retail :movie:

Most collectors on this forum seem to dislike re-releases but given an opportunity to actually influence the decisions of those in the industry and those same collectors support the re-release. I think we'll know who to blame when this hobby has had every penny and every bit of life squeezed out of it.

You seemed to have earned The Matrix Award., nothing collectible there either, huh? Just like millions of people line-up outside of shoe stores to get a chance at 200 pairs of re-released Jordan's hundreds of thousands of collectors will sit frozen at their devices awaiting this to go live to be 1 of the 4000 to own this-- reprint! I'm just happy that I don't have to worry about you and the 25 other people "who say" they won't buy this! :D

I am not the hugest of fan of reprints or rereleases but I think the key for me is mondo. which is why they is the hype if it wasn't mondo It wouldn't have such a hype.

The problem with the 'gauge interest' thread is that a lot of people will likely say they want this but if it arrives and the price doesn't suit them they'll no bother. I think in order to accurately gauge numbers would be to say who would be interested in this at around 20-25 quid for example. A good example of this is the ES anchorman 2. A lot of 'I'm sold' and then when the price was revealed a lot of '**** that' But saying all that. I'd be in up to £20.

Yes, tho tbf retailers seem to be more focused on targeting the newer, more gullible collector. Its no surprise that a lot of the members who were collecting around the time i was a noob here don’t seem to be collecting no more

“DONT MISS OUT ON YOUR CHANCE TO OWN YOUR COPY OF THIS VERY RARE STEELBOOK!!!!!!111111!!!!! ONLY AVAILABLE THIS ONE TIME ONLY!!!!! - HONEST!!!!!!!!"

I think what ppl fail to realise is that, unless you’re a extremely hardcore fan of the film, Drive in this case, like our friend Bluprint here - the very notion of desirability, of collectability and rareness upon which the title is being sold is a lie - There is absolutely no urgency, no real genuine limiting factors in owning a

“limited edition” and “highly collectable” steelbook

which is anything but.

I like it and I'd buy it, especially if it turns out like that mock-up.
I get what people are saying about potentially diluting the collectability by endless reprints but I like having some actual art on the steelbook that isn't just a rehash of the amaray.
