Drive (Possible Blu-ray SteelBook) - Mondo artwork

Hey guys! I've been asked to gauge the response of our membership here and your feedback will help determine if this steelbook and potentially other steelbooks like it become a reality! I hope you are as excited as I am about this opportunity to weigh in on the beginnings of the steelbook process.

If you're not familiar with Mondo, and what they do, here's a small overview...

Mondo creates limited edition screen printed posters for our favorite classic and contemporary films, in addition to vinyl movie soundtracks, VHS re-issues, and apparel. We also have a permanent gallery space in Austin, TX featuring a mix of original artwork and limited edition screen prints.

Here's the art that has the best chance of being approved! DRIVE.



What could set this steelbook apart?

1) As we already said, Mondo artwork
2) For part of the finish, a number of layers of paint can be applied to the steelbook. Whites appear whiter, and color contrasts should appear starker when seen in person.
3) HIGH GLOSS
4) No debossing or embossing as it would detract from the new "layered" effect
5) WEA artwork
6) Potential minimum print run of 4,000 units

Where would this steelbook be released? I can't say right now, but let us know your feedback. If you have other design ideas, let us know, and maybe they will be included in the final product!

But I like the idea that this kind of project would work out very well and the big studios would be like, "What's going on over here, these guys are putting original artwork on steelbooks and it's selling like hotcakes. We should try that."

Agreed. I do not like this movie at all. But depending on where it's released from makes a big difference.

i've seen a lot of people want another drive steel release and actually enjoyed this movie which im assuming is why this title is in the works... but my opinion is the artwork looks nice but the film itself, not so much. This would be a pass for me no matter what the art looks like solely based of the movie. Just my opinion

I went ahead and voted yes. I do like the artwork in the OP and that finishing process + gloss sounds great. Depending on the asking price, I would consider buying this.

I just got the HMV Drive... Might have to double dip. Between all the UK steels, the US steels, the Kimchi steels, and the Bluefans steels I am going to have to take out a second mortgage!!!

If they can release three different steelbooks for Star Trek, then surely they can do the same for Drive! I'm sure Snooloui would approve of that idea.

Never seen the film but I am a huge fan of mondo prints so I think it would be a great idea for HDN to make a splash and combine the 2 things I collect.
