Hey guys! I've been asked to gauge the response of our membership here and your feedback will help determine if this steelbook and potentially other steelbooks like it become a reality! I hope you are as excited as I am about this opportunity to weigh in on the beginnings of the steelbook process.

If you're not familiar with Mondo, and what they do, here's a small overview...

Mondo creates limited edition screen printed posters for our favorite classic and contemporary films, in addition to vinyl movie soundtracks, VHS re-issues, and apparel. We also have a permanent gallery space in Austin, TX featuring a mix of original artwork and limited edition screen prints.

See more of what they do at http://www.mondotees.com

Here's the art that has the best chance of being approved! DRIVE.

What could set this steelbook apart?

1) As we already said, Mondo artwork
2) For part of the finish, a number of layers of paint can be applied to the steelbook. Whites appear whiter, and color contrasts should appear starker when seen in person.
3) HIGH GLOSS
4) No debossing or embossing as it would detract from the new "layered" effect
5) WEA artwork
6) Potential minimum print run of 4,000 units

Where would this steelbook be released? I can't say right now, but let us know your feedback. If you have other design ideas, let us know, and maybe they will be included in the final product!

This would be a must have. Hope it goes through.
If it does wouldnt this be nice to be a definitive version of the movie ie extra disc full of makings of etc etc, perhaps some nice postcards included or make it a numbered edition rather much like we see from the Asian steels, just a thought....

Or perhaps only 362 people are interested and forcing people to vote for something they're not interested in will not help anyone. I'm
Not interested in it till I see a price and I'm sure a few others are in a similar position.

Nothing's being forced on anyone. Ash is merely bumping the thread and reminding those who might have missed this that a certain number of votes is needed if that steelbook is to see the proverbial light of day.

But if I were to vote yes and they stick a £30 price tag in it I then become a no and I imagine it would have the same effect on a number of people. Which then results in the one who puts up the cash to make it is left with a number of units that they are unable to sell at a price that makes them profit and therefore have to sell them at what they can in order to reduce their losses.

Good grief you're not selling your soul...
Do you want it to happen? then vote yes! regardless of what happens later on.

if this was sold for 15 gbp those 350 ppl who voted yes would easily buy up the entire stock

You forget there are lots forums dedicated to steelbooks and even though this poll is on HDN for HDN, it wouldn't be ludicrous to say that if and when confirmed and knowledge of this steelbook is released worldwide that there could be up to or more than 4 times as many people who want it. 1400 people is more than enough to sell out even a 4k print run and regardless of price there will always be scalpers

I got nothing more useful to add besides(at the risk of repeating myself):

Please make this happen!!! :D

I'm slowly getting a little bit tired of multiple editions of the same steel but I make an exception for this! :p

Exactly, 1 or 2 copies to show off in my bathroom, bedroom, living room, the garage, kitchen, at work, at my second work etc etc......

yeah, and dont forget you need a replacement copy for each one of them in case they get damaged and then you need some for "trading", which is of course totally different to scalping!

To people saying no because they don't want another catalog re-release. Please look at it like this:

It's not a Drive steelbook, it's a Mondo steelbook!

To be honest, I voted No because it is A) another Drive Steelbook and B) I don't like the Art, I have never been a fan of art with the main character slapped on it twice, just looks silly to me but hey-ho that's my thing.

All for more Mondo Steelbooks just not this one.

Not a collector of Mondo Posters but I've always admired how there done. So to say a steelbook that gives it that different look makes it a definite purchase.

Oké, had a little time to visualize my idea.
that's what i was talking about, as i said the scorpion needs a lot of work and improvements from a pro illustrator, but that's just a preview to see elements and positions

Great Job!

I would be interested in this copy but only if it came with good inside art and also a nice back as well.

no offence but the back looks a little shite like keying a maserati, sorry

ahahah it's ok ;)

i said it needs improvements to match better with the front artwork (like making scorpion paws longer to go out of steelbook edges or join the lines on the front) and for sure it will need a bit of pink when the shapes will be defined.

btw for a rich front like that, it needs a clean back imho.

Anyway thanks for every feedback, that was just a try, but i appreciate ;)

44 people said no to this? Why?! If they dont like it dont buy it. Regardless of what the movie is this is an opportunity for an HDN exclusive steelbook that may lead to possible others right? At least vote yes even if its to help with release that other fellow collectors would love to see happen. This could be a steelbook for Teletubbies for all i care, i think its a great opportunity that can lead to more and really hope this happens, the fact that its a steel for a movie that a lot of people love and want is just icing on the cake. This is a must buy for me personally
