Hey guys! I've been asked to gauge the response of our membership here and your feedback will help determine if this steelbook and potentially other steelbooks like it become a reality! I hope you are as excited as I am about this opportunity to weigh in on the beginnings of the steelbook process.

If you're not familiar with Mondo, and what they do, here's a small overview...

Mondo creates limited edition screen printed posters for our favorite classic and contemporary films, in addition to vinyl movie soundtracks, VHS re-issues, and apparel. We also have a permanent gallery space in Austin, TX featuring a mix of original artwork and limited edition screen prints.

See more of what they do at http://www.mondotees.com

Here's the art that has the best chance of being approved! DRIVE.

What could set this steelbook apart?

1) As we already said, Mondo artwork
2) For part of the finish, a number of layers of paint can be applied to the steelbook. Whites appear whiter, and color contrasts should appear starker when seen in person.
3) HIGH GLOSS
4) No debossing or embossing as it would detract from the new "layered" effect
5) WEA artwork
6) Potential minimum print run of 4,000 units

Where would this steelbook be released? I can't say right now, but let us know your feedback. If you have other design ideas, let us know, and maybe they will be included in the final product!

44 people said no to this? Why?! If they dont like it dont buy it. Regardless of what the movie is this is an opportunity for an HDN exclusive steelbook that may lead to possible others right? At least vote yes even if its to help with release that other fellow collectors would love to see happen. This could be a steelbook for Teletubbies for all i care, i think its a great opportunity that can lead to more and really hope this happens, the fact that its a steel for a movie that a lot of people love and want is just icing on the cake. This is a must buy for me personally

If they did not want members to say no, they would not have started a Poll with NO included.

Voted Yes for this. Whilst I understand some want limited prints ( i.e. around 2K or less ) I would rather the proposed 4K release so that a majority of collectors get a chance to own this potentially awesome release.

Getting enough 'yes' votes and positive feedback is only half of the equation here. Actually less than half.

Let's say that there are 500 yes votes to this thread and they decide to go ahead with producing the steel. Then what happens when they only sell 400 of them? And they're still stuck with what it cost them to produce those other 100 that people said they would buy and then didn't. They probably won't want to try this approach anymore.

If people really are not going to buy this release--no matter if it gets made or not--that information is just as useful to the people who will be producing this steelbook. Even if this release gets made, it needs to make a good profit for there to be any chance of a follow up.

Telling people to vote yes or don't vote at all--just so that you can get this one steelbook made, no matter the potential cost to the creators--is just short-sighted and greedy.

I already have the HMV exclusive, but I would easily double dip. I love this film.

Oké, had a little time to visualize my idea.
that's what i was talking about, as i said the scorpion needs a lot of work and improvements from a pro illustrator, but that's just a preview to see elements and positions

I liked your previous version a LOT better. The only thing I like more about this version is that the spine is a solid color.

anyone think Mondo, itself, could be the retailer of these possible steels. Or would it go to a larger retailer?
