Yeah. I just got back from getting my copy. They were in those plastic security cases. Hate those things. The cashier girl, although very cute, almost bashed the steel against the counter to remove it from the case. They're always in there so tightly. She also didn't know how to open the case with the security device thing. It was quite funny.

Of course, I kept my cool, flirted with her a little, then went on my way with a nice, minty, new steel! Success!!!

Oh and also, I wasn't really sold on the looks of the steel, but after seeing the slips design for the amaray and the fact that they were the same price made it an easy choice.

Steel all the way

I don't think it looks terrible at all. But apparently the US mfg seem to think we hate inside artwork and don't want it. Wreck please let them know we expect inside artwork, at least on new releases. Thanks

I doubt that US distributors think that we hate interior artwork. I'm sure that an executive at Summit saw that they could save 50 cents per unit by leaving off interior artwork. When you think about it, it's actually more shocking how many steelbooks DO get inside art. Yes, to folks like us it makes a difference. But to the majority of consumers (especially in a market as big and diverse as the US), how many do you think really even notice that one steelbook has interior artwork and the next one doesn't? I was surprised at how popular the Warner steelbook waves were, here in the US. I really didn't care for them, but reading around it seems like they were selling at a good rate.

Like some others have said, I'll be buying this and keeping it unless the HMV version turns out vastly superior and worth the extra cost to import. I definitely hope for better in the future, but you have to understand that this is a business. Opting out of interior artwork was not a personal attack on you or any of the collectors here. It was a strategic business decision by a distributor in a market (the US) that has a very broad and diverse consumer base.

Got mine but the blu ray disc was damaged. So I called back to see if they had more but they were sold out and I don't want a refund so for now I will wait to get the blu ray disc on ebay.

Picked mine up this morning and it was in great shape. My Target actually had them in huge individual plastic cases. They were actually floating around inside them, lots of room. Hopefully my Target uses these in the future.

I got one out of 10 without damages. They all had 2 dents in the same spot on the bottom right.

Feel sorry for people buying them off ebay when a stock photo is being used.

I see two listings on there with dents in the same place and its not in the description.

Getting mint steels in the U.S. is next to impossible.

I am pretty lucky. I have someone I know that works in electronics in the Target near me who sets aside mint copies for me when he can. In this hobby its who you know at times that help the process.

Scratches and dents

I bought my copy thinking a got a nice mint steel but after removing both plastic wraps, it had long ugly scratches along the spine and two nasty dents on the top right front cover:angry:

I redeemed the Ultraviolet code through VUDU.. went back to Target and exchanged it for a nice scratch free copy.. well I hope! Should I watch this on VUDU before I open my copy?

I have a question about these digital copy ultraviolet stuff. Do you own the rights forever or does it expire if they decide to turn off the servers? Never used them before. Are they in HD?

I almost forgot about this today but I managed to snag one tonight. They Had about 5 at the registers and none in the movie area. Thankfully it looks like they were over looked at my store. Beautiful steel !

I really want that Jungle Book digibook.

Problem is that it is not a digibook like the previous Target disney ones. It's just a storybook packaged up with the amray. Took a look at it and while the storybook looks nice enough would have preferred a digibook to match the other Target releases.

And back on topic, was able to pick up a mint Ender's Game while there and do wish it had inside art- would have made it a much better steel and was surprised it was missing being a new release, but not too bad overall and for the same price as the amray I'll definitely take it.

Enders game SB review...

After work, I went to target. They still had like 5-10 copies. I picked a couple of the best looking ones. I bought one, Opened it in-store, like I always do.

There's tiny dings along the edges, but no paint is missing. I exchanged it. The Replacement copy had the same edge imperfections plus paint chips n a scratched spine.

I told them I want my origanl copy and took it instead. Not sure whether the edge imperfections are factory, or damaged from poor handling. Also, It was double wrapped in plastic. No int art...decent price. Got the JB story book, they had to pull one from the back because the security devices ruined all the copies on the shelf. Target fumbled this one big time. Long way to go still yet.

my local store had a few of these in them racks, some of them bent to hell too. I managed to pick out a good one. will watch it this weekend.

Someone convince me on this one; I don't really like the artwork plus the lack of interior art. Is the movie good enough to justify a purchase?

Well after all the negative hype, I watched it and had mixed feelings. On the one hand, it wasn't as bad as they said, actually quite interesting and entertaining at times. On the other hand...the acting just could have been so much better. Even though the production value was impeccable, often scenes felt empty and devoid of extraneous bustle and character that would have made it look and feel like they were really at an important training center. And the book definitely was better. All that said, I still enjoyed the movie - I just wish it had realized its full potential. I picked up my steelbook after work today.

Picked mine up this evening. So excited. Came home, open TWO plastic wraps and found 3 scratches along the spine. Seriously? Target needs to care more about quality control.

quality control on this one was terrible, bought one, walked to car, removed first shrink wrap saw two cuts on spine, brought it back, got new one, opened it completely, small ding on top left corner, and some defect with the bottom of the spine

i give up...
