I just don't see what the rainbow color has anything to do with the film. It's completely random.

I'm hoping maybe it's some new (for steelbooks) rainbow holographic paint that changes color with the light and angle. But... I don't expect that to be true

Yeah, the rainbow color is somewhat of an odd choice. But it's perhaps like someone mentioned earlier, as perhaps it's a nod to Clementine's various hair colors.

The colours (from top to bottom of the spine) are the colours that Clementine's (Winslet) hair goes through chronologically in the movie (without taking into account the time-jumbling done in the narrative). Although since I haven't watched this in a while, I can't quite remember if they mixed up Red and Orange.

Well, I like the new artwork better than the old ones, but it's not a major difference anyway. All of them were far too uninspired, in my opinion.

Ahem.

FYI it's not rainbow, it's the four different colours Clementine's hair is throughout the film...right?

Clever, but I don't find it...aesthetically pleasing.

Rainbows colours are roygbiv, people, didn't you learn that one in school? :p

Well I guess it's confirmed: HDN hates colors.

I for one like the subtle change and I'm glad it's not just another white/gray/silver steelbook. Then again, I've never seen the movie; I'm only buying it to continue the Kimchi collection.

Sorry! I should have also pointed out that I did see you mention that earlier in the thread (but got lost in all the talk of rainbows). I merely meant to add that not only do the colours mean something, but the sequence of the colours is not random.

Can't wait to preorder this (one of my favourite movies!). This will be my first non-North American steelbook.

It's different and that's what steelbooks need if you ask me or they'll just start all looking the same, artworks need to take some chances I think. I think it'll pay off on this one too
Problem is I don't have Carebears and My Little Pony steelbooks to put it with...;)
I'll get it, cuz its a great movie. But, please go back to type A for the love of God!
If Blufans can retool Iron Man steel, you can do this! i believe in you!:D

I'll be honest, i wasnt too keen on the original mock ups but THIS is really nice and VERY differant.
I may take a punt at this one now - tis a good movie, but not high on the re-watchability scale, so was on the fence about ordering.

Do you really think that way? Because that's exactly what they did with Guardians of the Galaxy and the Breaking Bad set, but then here's what you thought about them...

I don't hate the design, it's a clever design but for people who don't collect steels, people who won't have it next to other steels, for collectors though it's just plain awful and will burn our OCD's

Jesus, artwork standards has dropped dramatically recently, the breaking bad set, the clearly misprinted amazing spiderman 2, training day, 3D plastered any chance it gets. I've not bought a steelbook in weeks, if this keeps up my interest in steels altogether will just diminish. IT looks like the movie is called Stereo. I'm losing hope in the future of steelbooks man I really am

Frankly, this is nothing even remotely close to unique or interesting, all they did was change the title and spine color to a gradient of colors and add the usual embossing border for what will surely be standard-issue boring title embossing.

I mean hey, it's not awful, I'll buy it, but it's far from "different". Which is kind of a bummer when you consider the movie it's for.

I agree I like this color. Gives good contrast. I bet it looks nice in the flesh. You have to watch this film. Awesome!!!
