I'm curious those who got 2 copies of same title instead of 1 of each

Did this happen only when both were in same order placed

Did this happen to anyone who had seperate orders placed

Come on Zavvi, get it together.

Not liking the new box either, bit of a downgrade in most respects. Not sure why they'd even consider skimping on packaging when it comes to SteelBooks, especially considering what we pay for them and how discerning we are about condition. The ends - which are now the easiest way to open these new boxes now that The Ripper is gone - seem like they'd pop open way too easy, and it looks like one member has already had that happen to them.
 
I shall be receiving my copy here shortly in the next few days. Sorry to hear about all the scratches, paint chips, etc. Needless to say I'm a bit worried now for when I get mine too. Knowing me, I probably won't return it or anything even if it is scratched. Depends how badly it could be I suppose. I'll just wait and see how mine shows up first. If I even get the right copy and not the Evil Dead remake! :)
 
Yikes lgans. FYI, the issue with Evil Dead Steel versions somehow getting mixed up in order processing has also been passed on to the folks at Zavvi. Lets hope they can look into this, the scratches, spine slashes and other things, as well. I hope you're able to get some replacements, guys.

Received today. Both copies got loads of paint chips and some weird surface scratch. These black colored matte finished Steelbooks are getting on my nerves.:angry:

Both my copys of ED & ED 2 have also arrived damaged with more less the same damage as lgans but on the back & ED 2 has a few dents too. so thats the last 4 steels from Zavvi all damaged :angry: I have had about enough of them.

Hey Zavvi if you really want to thank HDN members how about getting your act together
 
Hi guys, I hear you-rest assured all of these issues have been shared with them and continue to be.

As was the case with several other retailers over the years(which also all also operate slightly differently from each other) issues like this are multi-layered and take a number of groups within an organization, and understanding, which our community has helped to contribute, to solve. As always our site continues to summarize and discuss issues like this with retailers, regularly.

Ultimately, they have to work on measures, themselves, however, to improve a whole series of processes to improve the entire string from start to finish,to avoid all of these understandable customer service issues-this never happens over night due to the complexity. As an example much discussion took place behind the scenes to encourage the initial packaging change from mailers to boxes( and hopefully they reconsider the thinner foam, too).

We hope they, like all retailers act quickly to prevent and solve the challenges that all of us 'fragile item' collectors have seen over the years. I have had to snap pictures, provide retina scans and stand on one foot myself to get a refund from various retailers....and then despite all of that, a blood transfusion, and a relative, got a partial refund. And % wise, there are many,many stories like this across the world.

Hopefully, they continue to actively review all of everyone's suggestions and implement changes sooner, rather than later. All of us here at HDN have been through, what can be a nightmare returns, customer service and order error headache many times ourselves-including with US and other stores. We are customers, too, and believe me, we have been through all ends of the spectrum, whether it be group buys, personal trading etc. Our organization exists separately from retailers, but we remain constructively vocal, and every chance we have, share your comments.

Some retailers have far more refined processes than others, and unfortunately the customer can get caught up in any shortcomings a retailer's systems, and service processes may have. Your voices are being heard, and we hope Zavvi is working towards solutions and through its growing pains as we speak...

Everyone should use Amazon's system. Send out a replacement immediately, and give you 30 days to send back the old one (with allowances for international sales). If you don't send it back, they charge you full price for the 2nd one.
 
To waste more time they now ask for picture of the damage before processing the returns label.
Whats that all about, they asked me for pics of the spine slash on JB. Who would make it up after all its going back to them they can see the damage first hand, all they are achieving is pissing people off
Yeah, from a customer service standpoint its insulting. As if they'll be the judge of my satisfaction. Man I was not happy to receive that back as their reply after reporting a damaged item and requesting a return.

Good luck to everyone having issues with this release, I hope along with digitalbabe that their focus does in fact sharpen on the customer, especially in light of this wrong-movie(s) mess. They handled my issue quickly and easily (assuming I receive the correct movie this time :p), and I can only hope that it's the same for everyone else.

Lucky for everyone involved they still have stock. Imagine the debacle if this thing was sold out.
 
Got mine today. Small scratch but it was under the cardboard so it must have been at the factory. It's tiny and I'm not too fussed about it.

I have similar damage to this on my Evil Dead 2013 steelbook, unsure whether its worth going through all the bother listed above to recover a new copy that could be very well damaged and worse then my original. Although minor, it still f**ks me off. If i pay 17.50 for something expect to recieve it undamaged. There no excuse for this many 'factory' faults either. Hopefully my EvilDead 2 will finally arrive today, unmarked and mint i hope...

At first I thought of covering up the paint chips using a permanent marker pen but some of them are against red background. I am done with Evil Dead 2013 and Evil Dead 2. I will stick with the US SB.

This is now becoming a nightmare.

Black SB with poor matte finish = trouble.
 
Received with loads of scratches, some really deep. In the same 2 spots as everyone elses. Really fuming with this as i just spent £32.50 on this and Evil Dead 2 and both are scratched to hell under the cards :angry:
 
Seems quality is taking a huge dip as the bunches come out now. Each release has had lots of issues and packaging change doesn't help either. Chips galore, slashed spines, technical issues with reports of embossing being off, unexplained scratches e.t.c.

IMO after ruining many facets of collecting, now they find out how finicky most are. Small details matter to many and asking for pics for an item being returned for you to inspect just doesn't cut it. Glad I cancelled all my orders. Would rather trade for the few I am interested in

Now I face the wrath of some here :hilarious: for my comments
 
This is the way my Evil Dead's arrived :(

Out of three Steelbooks from Zavvi this week, two were a disgrace. The damage on both was clearly there BEFORE packaging was applied. Should never send out something as bad as these.

Never buying a StudiocANAL Steelbook again! :angry:

Wow! Looks like I've been very luck with this one. Sorry to hear about those receiving theirs in such poor condition. I hope you all get a mint replacement.

Mine has only two minor, tiny little chips on the bottom, so I was lucky. My Jungle Book on the other hand had a spine slash that's annoying me more and more every day. Not the worst slash, but it shouldn't be there at all.

Also, this Steelbook looks nicer in-hand than I thought it would. And the back is framed slightly differently than the picture above. The Axe is in full view and is highlighted silver.

Mine happened with seperate orders. Pre ordered the remake off play zavvi, Ordered evil dead 2 on zavvi website, and recieved 2 evil dead remakes. Waiting for them to reply now! :S
