For your records, your original query was:

Hi, i have the Zavvi exclusive Finding Nemo blu ray stellbook on pre order, ive noticed amazon are now selling it at a cheaper price, is it the same steelbook?

One of our customer services advisors has reviewed your query and we are able to confirm the following:

Hello Karl,

Thank you for getting in touch about your order.

This item is not the same steelbook.

If there is anything else that we can do, then please do not hesitate to get in touch and a member of our team will be happy to help.

Kind regards,

Tom

i got this back when i email zavvi about it

From my previous experience I don't trust those people from zavvi's customer services very much. They don't know much about their new releases or an embargo might be placed.

They would say this is a zavvi exclusive, you cannot buy it from anywhere but zavvi so the Amazon one is different from ours. Well, I highly doubt that there are two different versions of Finding Nemo steelbook released on the same date. Moreover, this has been available for preorder from zavvi for more than two months, and gets sold out on the date Amazon starts accepting preorders? I don't think this is a coincidence.

I guess this title doesn't sell as well as zavvi anticipated and Amazon takes some leftover stock from zavvi and sells out of it within a day.

I am waiting for Wreck's comment about this...:)

Regarding this, the title would have appeared on a general release schedule produced by a studio by mistake. Retailers then automatically list it, but are then told of the error and have it removed. No conspiracy. No Zavvi and Amazon partnership. From reading previous comments it seems this has been close to selling out prior to release? Why would a retailer with an exclusive product hand it over to someone else PRIOR TO RELEASE?!

Also remember folks, that ANYONE that pays amazon for their premium services as a RESELLER can CREATE their OWN listing.

So what does that mean? Well, ANY product that is NOT sold by another amazon is available to have a listing created.

There's another angle for you - there are many ways to get a listing on amazon, in their catalog - in addition to the release schedule mistake mentioned above.

Hope that helps. :)

Yes but this wasn't a reseller, it was available from Amazon themselves. Can we have some proper confirmation of what is happening? I assume it is a simple error and that it has now sold out on Zavvi. Is this the case?

Then it seems likely it was a listing mistake, as Nemo is indeed a retailer exclusive.

Given what we have stated about Zavvi exclusives in this forum before, not sure what other confirmation we really need to get. It's Zavvi and that's it. End of story.

Exclusives don't turn out to be trade wide and available to other retailers before they are released.

slightly worried about this now. cancelled my order from zavvi to order with amazon, and the dispatch date they are showing isn't in-line with the release date, and it is no longer available to pre-order from either site :(

It's insane to me how much confusion this has caused. Amazon does stupid stuff like this all the time. I can't believe people jumped so quickly to cancel their orders and go with an amazon listing that had absolutely no details or credibility.
